Just recently went to a local new and used gun shop, found a deal on a m&p 9mm I couldn't say no to. I didn't know much about the m&p line until researching when I got home. It's a full sized first gen slide but the frame looks compact but still has 3 lines of available rails instead of 2. I know it also has the apex trigger kit in it which is a big thumbs up. If anyone could fill me in to what frame is on the slide I would appreciate it. Thank you 1226FCC1-35BF-4C20-90EC-FE42D552A182.jpg

knew it was a first gen, but I can't find any similar with the same frame I have with the stippling. It also doesn't have a tang like the 1.0 has.

I agree that it looks like a compact frame. What size magazines does it hold? The compact uses a 12 round while the full size uses a 17 round.

10 round mag came with it. Massachusetts compliant gun.

Looks like someone glued/epoxied the grip insert the frame and cut it down to a compact size .

You Sr. bought a chopped or possibly butchered m&p of own know quality !! Go shoot it and see how it functions .

Looks to me like it's been stippled in somebody's garage. Other than that, I don't know enough about the M&P line to comment intelligently about the frame, but I agree that the length may have been modified. Hopefully you didn't pay too much for it. If it shoots fine, don't worry about it . . .

Paid 280 with the case and an extra mag. Shoots amazing, trigger pull is smooth, no jams yet or issues. I honestly enjoy it because it's a great carry size with the smaller frame and I'm not losing any barrel size. If it is garage Work he did a great job making everything fit flush, and he did a good job removing the tang.

It shoots like a dream. I've figured out it was a Massachusetts handgun. I live in New Hampshire but Massachusetts laws don't allow over a 10 rd magazine in a handgun. So who ever bought the pistol either custom built it themselves or had it built to hold a compact 10 rd mag to be legal in the state. Atleast I can now get my out of state ID and bring it to my buddies houses and ranges in Massachusetts aswell.

I would call Smith and Wesson and see if they would do a full capacity free state swap of the magazines. Glock did that for me.

"Looks to me like it's been stippled in somebody's garage"...

Uhhhh....Doesn't really matter "where" the work is done, but "how" the work was done. Not everyone has the luxury of a dedicated gun room or shop. I love my gun shop. But I know and appreciate what yer a sayin'. Here in Idaho it's commonly called "farmerized.." And on closer inspection (of the pic) the border lines look pretty straight and the stippling pattern pretty even.. I've seen commercial jobs not look that good....

Yep, It's a 1.0 that was originally a 4.25" FullSize. Previous owner chopped the grip to a compact and undercut the trigger guard. Then wrapped it with the rubberized Talon grip. If allowed, you can get 17 round mags and use a Xgrip adapter. Standard "compact" mags are 12 rounds.

I can assure you it's not talon grips. It's stippled and not going anywhere, on there for good. And have probably put ~300 rounds through it so far no hiccups. Loving it as a edc.

Mind sending a link to the spacer? I would definitely like a larger mag for when I'm out in the woods, pits etc.

I don't know of anyone who currently makes a spacer for the 15 round magazine to the M&P Compact 1.0. I made my own using ThermoMprph moldable plastic. Not difficult to make the rough shape but lots of filing and sanding to get it finished. Add some Talon grip tape and it looks like OEM. The finished product is almost exactly the same size as the Shield with 8 round magazine.
I'm sure some company will be making the spacers before long though.
