I haven't had a hand gun or a desire to own one in many years. I used to have an S & W .38 six shooter but couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with it. I also owned a .22 Ruger and was a dead eye with that one. After buying a cabin in northern MN and taking my dog for a walk in a state forest which is known to harbor a pack of wolves, I figured it was time to have something to protect my dog. Even without being accurate, at least the bang would probably scare away potential trouble. A local sporting goods store had the SD9VE on sale for 1 day for $299 so I jumped on it. While waiting for my permit to purchase, I tried a friend's friend's Glock 9mm and .40 S & W SD model and did surprisingly well with both of them. Once I got my gun, I took it out to a gravel pit and was quite pleased with my accuracy. I can get used to the trigger pull. Now, with all the shootings and stabbings going on in our country I figured I may as well sign up for a class so I can carry it on my person whenever I'm anywhere there are tons of people. I just think there should be more good citizens armed these days with all the nuts and terrorists amongst us.

Welcome from Wisconsin!

I'm pretty sure trigger kits are available to improve your trigger. I had a Sigma 40VE & although I had no trouble hitting what I aimed at I wanted to lighten the trigger pull to about 6 lbs, but that problem was solved for me. My buddy liked it so much he was willing to buy it from me at the same price I paid for it. Since I really had my eye on an M&P40C I wound up buying one. It makes for a good partner to my FS M&P40 & can use the FS mags as well.

Thanks for the warm welcomes. From the looks of things, I have many things to learn and this looks like a good place to learn those things.
