First Impressions on M&P9 2.0

So I bought the M&P9 2.0 4.25" Monday and finally got out to the range today.

I have no experience whatsoever with the 1.0s but do have a PC Shield in 9mm. I put 200 rounds down range to break it in and I love it already.

The grip texture feels great to me (wish my Shield had the same) I prefer the Shield's trigger over the 2.0 but my Sheild also has 3k rounds through it so it's broken in. I'll put at least 800 more rounds down range before deciding on if I will throw an Apex in it.

Recoil was minimal and I was able to get back on target quickly with accurate follow up shots.

Only thing I'm changing to this thing as of right now is I'm putting Trijicon HDs on it that should be here today.

I definitely think anyone on the fence about these should pick one up.

Below is a picture of the first mag ran through the gun at 7 yards (excuse the flyer due to poor trigger control haha) I didn't give it an actually cleaning before shooting it..all I did was run a bore snake through it twice and put a drop of oil on each slide rail.

I too have been considering adding a 2.0 9mm (the 5") to my little collection, also owning a 1.0 full size and a PC Shield.
Have not shot a 2.0, but just in dry fire feel it's trigger to me seems to fall in-between my stock 1.0 and my PC Shield. I actually was hoping it would be closer to my PC's, giving me a little more reason to grab one.
As for the grip, again not with any time at a range but just in store the texture is far more aggressive than I am used to. Cant say if that's bad or good, but definitely noticeable while in a store. Not sure how it may feel after 1-150 rounds of practice though.

It's definitely not as good as my PC Shield 9mm. There's a little grittiness to it (that I hope will go away with rounds down range and dry fire practice) and I felt that the reset didn't come quick enough.

When I held the 2.0 instore last week, I also felt like it was going to be too aggressive for my liking, but when I shot it today it felt great. When I shoot my Shield I find myself readjusting my grip from time to time. Didn't have to do that once today.

I just bought a 2.0 5" 9mm FDE. Would have preferred black but FDE is ok. Shot 140 of my various reloads with 100% perfect cycling. Accuracy was average mostly, 115 Hornady HAP with 5.4gr CFE Pistol @ 1.075" was super accurate. This pistol's accuracy and trigger are way better than the M&P FS 9mm I recently traded for an M&P .45 Midsize. The sights were right on. BTW, that .45 is very accurate.

I missed having a FS 9mm M&P. Accuracy and triggers varied in the 1.0's and I think the 2.0's are likely better. The big draw for me is the ergonomics on these pistols. The new grip texture is excellent! It's easy to shoot without needing to re-adjust my grip on the pistol.

Im still on the fence on these. Sold my M&P FS 9 about a year ago. Shoulda bought the 5" pro, oh well. I pawwed a 2.0 last week and felt the grip texture was a bit much for my hands. For me it felt like sandpaper.( My hands are rough due to my job) Maybe ill try another before writing them off completely. Im still hoping that the 5"pro f/o model will drop in price with new models taking over. Timing is everything when undecided. Thanks Ron

Good shooting! That flyer would still have done some harm, probably the left lung.

Discounting the flyer I'm thinking that's close to a two inch group at seven yards.
That will do nicely for a combat pistol.

Great to read all of the positive reviews on the M&P 2.0. I was just about to add a Walther PPQ to my stable of guns, plus I don't have a high capacity 9mm (only a Glock 43). When I went to the LGS, the gentleman who was helping me was carrying an M&P 1.0 and raved about it. He asked me if I had considered the S&W. He let me fire a few rounds through his and I was impressed. His 1.0 was the two tone, which I really liked. The only thing I didn't like about the 1.0 was the extended beaver tail, and the 2.0 has one that has been trimmed down. Now I am waiting for the 2.0 two tone to be released and I will hopefully be the first kid on my block with one of those.

As I look though my meager, to me, overdone by my wife, collection I find that I do not have a 9mm anything. This begs the question, why?
Enter the m2.0! I need one, it's available so it is a good match. I have a 40 m&p and like it very much so I am not unfamiliar to them. I shall go a hunting for a 5"fde.

Boy, isn't that classic. When a person handles a pistol (like in the store) the mind is focused on how the grip feels or the sights look.

The stippled grip on my shield feels TOO aggressive when handling it. When actually firing, I forget about it and then afterward I realize the pistol didn't budge in my hand at all. That's what I want.

PPQ, eh? I had kicked around getting a M&P45 for a year or so, but every time I handled and dry fired one at my LGS, the trigger felt crappy. My 2013 vintage Shield 40 trigger was still worlds better. Then I saw a review of the PPQ 45 and got one. It's a great pistol, but the trigger pull is almost too light. It will be interesting when I get my hands on a 2.0 and compare the trigger feel with my PPQ. I may end up wishing I had known of the upcoming 2.0 and waited.

My PPQ trigger is so light in comparison to my DA revolvers that I am not planning to ever carry it. My Shield and my SW99s don't feel so light compared to the revolvers.
