...we've heard they were up here...this cow and calf are the first we have seen...caught them on the way home...a mile or so as the crow flies from our house...wouldn't you know that would be the first car to come up behind us...went by us...and the moose...with full light show going...that was the end of moose watching...

We just got back from Greenville Maine. Saw three moose. This is a picture of the moose we had around our house back in 2017. My, at the time, one year old German Shepherd ran with this guy twice. I stood and video taped him in the yard. I was only 10 feet away from him for 30 minutes.
They are a treat to watch.

Here there are a couple creeks running together and going through town. A couple blocks away frrom my house they put a couple small dams in and made some ponds known tongue in cheek as the 'frog ponds;. Kids like to fish in them. Mountains near all around town. Anyhow this spring a young bull moose wandered through town ad thought the frog ponds would make a great place to hang out. Fish and Game ran him off. How is one moose worse than what must be a hundred or so deer, both whitetail and muleys, that live in or near town? Got me. The other day a big mule deer buck was standing right beside the courthouse steps dining on shrubbery. Why not a moose?

Reminds me of when I lived in Alaska, none of the long time residents ever talked about hunting moose, it was always shooting moose.

Some people, when seeing a cow for the first time, think it's a black horse with big ears :p

This reminds me of the old western joke of the cowboy arguing with the woman in her new hunting clothes, brand new rile, etc. on her first hunt. The cow poke says “Fine lady, it’s a deer. Just let me get my saddle off it first.”
