Thanks everyone for all the nice replies!

That serial number is a bit low for a 1933 model. Are you sure that's not the assembly number out of the yoke?
Guy

No, that is the serial number on the front strap, cylinder and grips. I guessed at the date after learning they made around 2500 a year starting in 1917. Maybe my math needs a little help. Date anyone?

OK, don't laugh. Tried to play "photographer" and took some pictures.

Gun came in yesterday and I'm excited and happy. She's a real beauty! Looks almost new from the box. The seller was honest and took pictures of some light spotting. Well, we all know how bad a modern camera can make you look! Gun looks great in person and I kinda think I stole it! Finally got a nice one with correct grips too! They are numbered to the gun.

Was really neat using my C&R for the first time and UPS brought it straight to me. :)

Congratulations! That's a really nice find at a great price. Those little I frames are among my favorites - all the art of S&W in miniature.

Trouble is, you are over the cliff now. Owning that revolver will make you see the need to have its brother in .32 Long. And then another . . . and another . . .

Yes, I would say you did very well! As did they!

Very nice. Looks like the front side plate screw may be a little loose.

It took an 1/8 of a turn. And, yes, I have the proper screwdrivers! :)

If you search my post you'll see I fell off that cliff long ago! Nothing but S&W revolvers for two+ years. I really mis-named myself! :)

I love that rich old bluing, but am also impressed with those grips. My Wife makes fun of my grip obsession. Just knowing they were hand checkered by a craftsman all those years ago is a treat for me! :)

And please don't ask about the 100+ year old Colt 1908 grips my doggie chewed up a few years back. I obviously left them in the wrong place and my cute little boy is surely innocent of any wrong-doing! :)

Grabbed two boxes of 38 S&W from an old crusty range I haven't been to in awhile. And a steal @ $35 a box!!

Would love to know where this gun sat for 88+ years to look so clean!?? Get letter from Roy J?
