My first wheel gun. Its nib from 1987. Bought it from a very close customer and it had the box, papers and everything. He was big in collecting Smith revolvers. It was a single owner. I have the receipt from when he bought it. It has fired up my love for 2.5" smiths. Im on the hunt for a 2.5" m19

My main love is that its as old as I am

Its a 686 with a 2.5" barrel

I have the same gun in -1 and agree with you on Smith snubbies! I have a 66-1 2 1/2" but can't feel complete without the 19 2 1/2" that is in my future.

Nice find on a great gun!

Love it!

I am pondering a new 686Plus snub...unless I can talk my dad into giving up the 66 snub that we keep trading back and forth!

Gave up the semis for carry, and have gone all revolver!

Who makes holsters and smaller grips for carrying this monster.

And I shot it for the first time today. Love at first round. What a dream. I shot some winchester .38spl Super Match and some .357 hornady. What a soft and amazing shooter

Take a look at Simply Rugged holsters. They make heavy duty pancake holsters that are really good, and priced fairly. I have one for my Model 60 that works perfectly. As far as grips go, you can't go wrong with Ahrends. Brownell's keeps the grips in stock; you can see the holsters directly on the SR website. Bill

Take your pick. The 686 2.5" is a VERY popular gun. I had one just like yours that I foolishly traded for a 5906. I have 3 other 9MM's and for some reason I just HAD to have that 5906. I wanted one mint in box, and the 686 was worth what a LNIB 5906 goes for. I still miss it terribly. Never let that one go, my friend.

I have a 686-3, 2.5 inch, that I really enjoy. I carry it concealed when I can wear some kind of cover but in Texas that is not very much. I normally carry my 65-5 3 inch in my pocket until the cold weather comes for a couple of weeks. But don't think you will stop with just one or two. They are very addictive, especially J, K, L, and N frames. I don't know about the X frame, only because I don't have one, yet.
