First post, sigma 9mm

Hi, first post here.
Just bought the sigma 2 days ago, put about 100 rounds down range. The gun shop where I bought it said he would replace the spring with a lighter # pull at no cost to me if I choose to.
Bought some snap caps and been reloading and dry firing exercising every spare moment. Agreed that its a tad tight but for my first handgun I don't even notice. The sights leave something to be desired, I'm down and to the left at 20 ft.
Although again, first handgun so I'm practicing my technique every chance I get. Drawing to low ready position, 60 / 40 , proper grip fallow through on the trigger and not trying to close my eyes when I finally break the sigmas "free Play" zone.
I'll be reading through everything I can get my hands on.

My advise is not to let all the trigger hype get into your head.

Just learn to shoot the gun and practice!

I am enjoying it. I'm not putting any bank into the long heavy pull of my sigma. As I said, its my first so I don't have anything to compare it to. I did spend some hands on time at the range with the M&P model and a glock 19, enjoyed them both. I'm constantly doing dry fire pulls with my snap caps. I'll post acouple uploads of my range targets at 20ft.
I just purchased it on the 31st so I'm still gathering supply's. this Tuesday god willing I'll pick up a holster and sign up for my ccw class if there are any seats left for February at my local range.
I'm still searching and reading anything I can to make me a better shooter and applying it to dry fire exercises whenever I get a moment to myself. Any info or nudges in the right direction would be a +. Thanks for making me feel welcomed.

For just a minute, forget about how much a Sigma costs and how many internet "experts" trash the gun. If I recall, the Sigma is the best selling pistol offered by Smith and Wesson. How in the name of all that is holy and smelling of gunpowder could a gun have such strong, consistent sales history if it wasn't any good? I know, some will say "yeah, but Saturday night specials sell good too". Again, if you buy a weapon do defend your life, would it be a cheap little gun? Cheap guns are made to shoot and throw away. I think most people can figure this one out. My advice: stop listening to "experts".

Will not mention this members name, but...he said he bought a Sigma, dry fired it, and it was then he decided the Sigma was not a decent handgun. Would you buy a car before test driving it?

I'm satisfied with my sigma, just looking on some nudges in the right direction for credited reading material to better improve my overall handling and accuracy. I'm the type of person that doesn't do anything half cocked. I read, tried and re tried many handguns before I made my first purchase, narrowing down the list as I went on. It was a close call between the M&P vs the sigma. Was also about to go Gp100, but in the end the sigmas reliability and price was the ultimate "straw" and as I said, my local smith shop where I bought it stated if I really hated the trigger action he'd lighten it up for me but dry firing exercises and range time will take care of that. I also really though about the 24/7 oss model from Taurus but I'm not the type of person that likes to buy a handgun then have to wait a month to actually shoot it.

Not to mention S&W customer service beats Taurus hands down! I think the only one worse than Taurus is EAA. Some of the things that go on there are downright criminal lol

heres acouple uploads of my first shots taken with the sigma

The first is at 18ft.
second at 20ft
and the third at 18ft, point n shoot.
all of them were not slow steady shots. mostly just Breath, breath, bang. That day at the range I did about 5 sets at 18 and 20 feet. between slow n steady vs rapid and point n shoot.

Welcome Jc and you are doing fine. Now is the time to get a Good Reloading Manual and get to reloading so you can shoot alot more. Presses abound on Ebay and with a set of Dies,a scale and a few other items you will be shooting your pistol alot more. Make friends with your local Tire Dealer and start Casting your own bullets from old wheel weights. I have no doubt there will be more Pistolas in your future.

funny you should mention reloading. I was just looking through midways and was hovering around the "add to cart" button.

I have a lot of reading to do before I purchase any equipment but I am keeping my eyes peeled for that "great buy" that I just couldn't pass up.
im sorta torn between either going progressive or not for the first pieces of reloading equipment. Is it really that hard and time consuming to reset?

oh and yea im already saving for my .40 Dont know which model yet tho. Im picking up a holster on Tuesday so I can more accurately practice my pull and dry fire that im doing every chance I get.

haha im still a long way away from "casting" lol.

Good Man and as I said Presses can be found On The Cheap On Ebay. 35-40 Beans should find you a good RCBS Reloader Jr. And I still have the the first press I bought a RCBS Reloader Special. I have had alot of presses including a Dillion 650 but Absolutely Love my Redding Turret.

all in due time.. but I think I just bumped my time frame up acouple months. I'm a methodical but impulsive buyer. =)
you know, one side says. "hold tight you will get it soon enough." and the other, "I need it NOW."

First of all, welcome to the forum and the sigma shooters club.

You've got a way to go before the gun is even really broken in.

The Sigma's have their sights regulated to be 'on' the target, not lollypop like most of us learned on.
The usuall suspects for low left are 'not smooth trigger pull', or pushing forward/breaking wrist down.

Don't try to stage the trigger, just one long smooth pull and put the sights right on the target.

Here's a right handed target to aid in getting it where it's supposed to be.

That's one thing I needed to know. are our sights 6'oclock or blocking.. thanks for the input. I hit the range about once a week for a few hours. More so once I get a stockpile of ammo.
