One of my coworkers needed off yesterday. So I covered his shift. 0400-1200hrs. I was long but easy. It wouldn’t be so bad if I wasn’t held over until 1900 the night before. But worth it to get off early. I had the entire day to myself and the weather was perfect for a awesome range day. I had to stop to get a pass into the range. I found one of my unicorn revolvers I will make a thread about it in a minute. I got ear plugs and made my way to the range.
I took my prized IWI Tavor SAR with my 60 round drum magazine. And my work horse 686 plus pro series revolver and some left paper targets from years ago. I fired exclusively mixed left over 357 magnums. 100 rounds worth and 7 rounds of the expensive civil defense ammunition.
Since I been out of the game for a while other than the few times I was able to squeeze off some rounds when I safely can. This is my first true range day in years.
I did most of my revolver shooting about approximately 15 yards. I’m not to happy ay my performance. But I did manage to get good enough to hit my target at 25 yards by the end. Even though it wasn’t my best ever. My revolver never disappoints and all but one round was a dud. I handled my recoil well. But I did flinch at first. But I relearned not to do it towards the end. My breathing kicked in from the start like a reflex.
I fired my Tavor at the furthest possible range without having to drive. I placed my target. Loaded my rifle and fired a single shot. I hit the paper. But it was to far towards the right. I adjusted my site and fired off another shot. Hit dead center. I fired off several more shots. Hit different areas of my target. At this point it was getting late and I was pretty tired and hungry. So I got about 50 yards of my target and dumped my drum magazine onto my target for fun. Loaded everything up and went home a happy man. I’m going to start practicing again. So more range time coming up.
Note: I wasn’t using a bench rest while firing my rifle.
Edit: only one round was a dud. I made a mistake.
