First Shield 9mm failure to feed...

I have just over 1000 rounds through my 9mm Shield and I was testing some new ammo that I have never used before - Allegiance Ammunition 9mm 90Gr. Power Strike. Check out the photos below... I had to put the pistol in a vice and work really hard to free the slide, it was jammed hard. From what I could gather it looks like the round hung up on the feed ramp.

Are you absolutely certain that the cartridge didn't look like that in the box? That is far more likely than it happened while the cartridge was feeding, it takes more power to do that than a recoil spring has!

I feel absolutely sure that the pistol didn't do that. That round had to have been defective out of the box.

I looked it up and it's a 90 gr frangible round, so I'm not surprised there was a problem cycling the slide, but I find it hard to believe a case could be peeled back that way in the chamber.

100% sure. I loaded the mag myself right before shooting the magazine...

I am very sure it was not in that condition before attempting to fire that round. I loaded the magazine right before firing the firearm and I was picking up each round one at a time form the plastic holder. Pretty sure I would have felt or seen that deformity in the loading process, also, the damage to the round fits perfectly with the lip of the feed ramp and is exactly where it was jammed when the slide got stuck.

That's a manufacturing problem and not a gun problem. Have you ever done any reloading? That looks to me like the bullet seater crushed the case.

100% sure. I loaded the mag myself right before shooting the magazine...

Then I would guess that the brass is exceptionally SOFT.
