First Suppressor Question

With the exception of being all around bigger and heavier, is there an advantage to going with a .556 suppressor over a rimfire only one. Primary use would be on a S&W FPC 5.7 and occasional .22LR. The upcharge between the lesser and more expensive makes it doable. With a safe full of ARs it is something I need to consider. For better or more details I’m looking at the Gemtech Nebula vs. Abyss. Thanks

Anything you use for rimfire needs to be serviceable- ie you need the ability to take it apart to clean it. They leave a ton of crud.

Rimfire only cans are lighter and smaller as well as cheaper. I’d personally suggest an AR optimized rifle can for that purpose that is rugged and has good flow through and a separate rimfire specific can for that use. A rifle can is unwieldy on a 22 pistol for instance whereas a small can is a joy.

This is true!

I've had a 22 and 9mm can for years. Just got a 5.56 this week.
Rimfire ammo is most dirty, I shoot SV and subsonic. 10 rounds of Remington subsonic is dirtier than 50 rounds of CCI.

Size difference is massive too.

A rimfire can on the 5.7, even if rated for it, is gonna be louder than a 223 can, due volume.....

Update: Used a Silencer Shop kiosk @ a local store.
Purchased the Abyss.
Couple of small hiccups probably to do with my old iPhone and updates more than anything.
