First Time Disappointed in Dillon Precision

After over 100,000 rounds I wore out one station of the shell plate on my SDB. Called Dillon, I tried to talk him into letting me pay for the replacement, he said NO we guarantee them for life, is there anything else you need? All he asked was that I destroy the old plate.
It was in the mail the same day I called them, free.

Absolutely every time I have called them I have talked to a friend.

My latest Dillon story.

Bought a RL450 in 1980 and did lots of loading averaging around 25,000 rounds a year for the first 10 years and 5,000 rounds a year since.

Had been meaning to buy a RL550 since they first came out with them in 1985 but never got around to it until last month.

So now what to do with the RL450? Since I have a lot of history with this press, and it was one of their very early 450s with bronze link arms, I sent it back to Dillon to be refurbished and machined for their Auto-prime system.

I was told they're 3 to 5 weeks behind on refurbishing so I was pleasantly surprised when it showed up in at my place in under two weeks. I was even more surprised when I looked at the invoice. The total cost was $000.00.

How's that for a lifetime no BS warranty?

Shipping

$10 for shipping? Not good. Not bad.
In defense of Dillon: shipping is a very real cost.
Small parts first class letter? No tracking.
Dillon's shipping policy is pretty much average.
Brownell's clipped me $14.95 for three 3" fiber optic tubes.

DILLION

Only time I have bought from Dillion is when I got my S&W 500 die set. Quite frankly it looks and works like it was made in some high school workshop. I have seen much better work come out of such shops. Finish is super rough, knurling is too deep, and although a carbide sizer die, it puts light scratches in the brass-- first & last time I ever spend money on dillion. Only bought it because they were the only maker of 500 dies at the time. :(

Dillon

Did you call Dillon and tell them the die was of poor quality? I bet they would make it right or give your money back.

I ordered an extra mag for a compact Kimber 45 today. The cost for shipping was 9.95 and I am certain it won't cost that much. Kimber also sent me a box and manual for the pistol for free..contacted Crimson trace and signed me up for free lifetime battery replacement for the laser. With customer support like that I'm not going to complain. Some shipping they will make out..some will break even and some will be a loser..probably like mine. A friend bought a Kimber rifle at a gun show and called Kimber for a manual..they ended up sending him a correct serial numbered box for the new rifle he bought at the show..for free. He told me about it on the phone tonight. Dillon has always sent me the few parts I have needed for free...even for the Dillon Super 1050s that are only warranted for a year. But then Big Green does also. I just bought a complete RCBS reloading package from a fellow locally. Had the RCBS turret tool. I got every thing the fellow had including his bench primers powder etc etc. To be honest the turret press looks to be ok..but it really isn't a Redding...in fact not even close.but the whole package was priced decently.
