I just purchased my first S and W revolver and hope to pick it up next weekend. It looks like it has never been cleaned, internally, but came with the original box and paperwork. Serial ADN72xx which is mid 1980s, probably 1985. I had been searching for a 66 but this one came up locally so I grabbed it. I look forward to reading and learning about Smiths and all of the various models.

Welcome to the forum. There is a lot of expertise amongst the members. Many folks consider the 3" 65-3 to be very desirable. I have one that shoots great myself. There are some posts on the forum about how to clean stainless guns you might find interesting. Enjoy your new 65-3.

Welcome! You picked a great S&W revolver to start with! I have both the 66, and the a 65-5 3" RB, and I love mine. Lately I have put Uncle Mike's rubber grips on it to give me a better grip and a little cushion at the range, compared to the original grips.

Welcome aboard! Congratulations on acquiring that 3" Model 65...great way to start your S&W collection!

There is a sense of camaraderie, and fellowship, and civility here on the Forum, that you won't find anywhere else. (In fact, this place is the polar opposite of most other social media sites.) Folks are knowledgeable and helpful, and there is an absolute wealth of information available. You're going to love it here! :)

Thanks to all and I will research some of the posts on tips for cleaning stainless.
