First time w/15-22 - small range report 30 yards

picked up my 15-22 yesterday. put about 250 rounds through it with federal bulk and CCI stinger with not a hiccup.

got a zero on my Primary Arms M4 red dot at a little over 25yards (max at indoor range) using the Stingers. The federal shot fine but the shot group was not nearly as tight. i will be sticking with the Stingers until i can pick up some other ammo to test it against and if it proves better I will switch.

below are the stingers at a little over 25 yards w/red dot. this is a whole 25 round mag. I think the 2 fliers are from the target swaying when i first sent it down range. still have to move my POI down a bit, but we had to leave the range so i didn't have time. Target size is about 1.5"

Nice shootin. Try the mini-mags out. The super high velocity loads tend to be less accurate than the slower stuff.

I found with the dot scopes they cover the bulls eye to much and you don't really know if it's centered and you think it needs a little adjustment.If you get a target where you can see the bull just outside the dot all around it will help to know if your zeroed.

Shooter, As I recall the PA M2 is a 2 MOA red dot so I would think it would be OK at 25 yards on an inch and a half bull. However, in general, I agree with you since there are a lot of 5 MOA red dots out there. And the fuzzy ones make it even tougher to keep things centered.

I am using the PA M4 which is 2MOA. Also I keep the brightness of the dot at the lowest possible setting that allows it to be seen in the environment I am shooting in. The brighter the dot the more the dot color "bleeds" and is not as defined. I don't recommend shooting at the brightest dot by default which most people probably do.

I will try the mini-mags next. They didn't have any when I went last. Thanks for the tip.

Nice shooting Anthony! If you are interested in shooting at paper for accuracy I have had very good success with Aguila Match Rifle.

Nice! thanks for the recomendations on ammo everyone....it gives me a good starting point to find the most accurate ammo for this rifle.

i'm so used to paying for .40sw that paying for "premium" .22lr is still makes my wallet happy
