Just finished my first week concealed carry with my Shield 9mm riding in a Crossbreed Mini-tuck.

Extremely comfortable and it doesn't shift or move around.
I'm not sure if I could ever say that I've forgotten that I'm carrying it but for me it's a great fit.

Glad it's comfortable for you; but speaking just for me, I hope you never forget you're carrying a gun. It's a very big responsibility that should make some changes in our approaches to situations, places and people.

Comfortable enough not to notice its weight or bulk, sure. Conscious that it's there if needed, absolutely. Aware of the responsibility it entails, always.

Again, I'm glad it's working for you.

I agree with zag. Comfortable is great. CONSCIOUS of it is really great. People who "forget" and try to go through airport security...Cops who "forget" and walk out of booking with an empty holster...etc. And more important, and I'm sure what zag is suggesting, reminds you "No, I shouldn't go in to that place that MIGHT be a problem, because I might have to use my weapon". That's a great feeling.

If you carry a gun, you must always be aware that you have a deadly weapon.

Your responsibility is NOT to be a Lone Ranger or LEO.

You are responsible for your conduct.

Stay away from bad situations - remember Zimmerman.

Don't insert yourself into questionable situations.

If no one ever knows you are carrying, you are doing it right.

Just my opinion, of course.

I am very glad to hear you have joined the "Polite" people. Silence is golden, when you are in the CC mode. The mode may spill over into your everyday world and make you more aware of your surroundings weather you are carrying or not.

welcome to our world....I am glad you chose to exercise your rights. I have never "forgotten" my firearm is on my hip.... how does that happen?

I agree.
I carry a gun, but I never go places where I think "I might need a gun". I also never carry one if I'm going to a bar.
Those are my rules.

Years ago (early 80's) a friend of mine was flying out of Salt Lake City. He was carrying a large "salesman's" case. Checked through security, sat down to read a book. Looked in his case to find his M659 in the bottom of the case. He booked it back to his car as fast as he could to deposit his gun. He forgot, and airport security blew it.

Congrats!

You might pick up, well order and wait a long time, a copy of Massad Ayoob's book "In the Gravest Extreme, The Role of the Firearm in Personal Protection" Although it contains a few outdated things I thought it had great "need to know" items in it. I am relatively new to carry, 1 year, and it really gets you thinking of things you might not know or just reinforce many of the statements in the above posts.

Don't ever want to forget your carrying?

Try IWB with a Crossbreed Super tuck with a MP40 on in the 5 o click position and a Ruger LCR in a IWB in the appendix position all while wearing your regular sized blue jeans.

I carried this way yesterday when my son in law and I went to shoot at a friends house.

Trust me, I knew they were there every second!!! :D

All jokes aside, always be aware you are carrying. It's a very serious responsibility but your right.

I carry concealed and never "show" or brag to anyone. I just blend in and mind my own business.

I went to a Law Class that covered various aspects of owning, using, and carrying firearms in my state and the most common question asked during the Q&A session started with "What if I forget I'm carrying a gun and I...".
That was followed up with various things like "Go to the airport", "Cross state lines", "Go to the post office", etc.
Boggled my mind that so many people forget they are carrying a firearm.

"I almost forgot I was carrying" is a figure of speech more related to comfortable to carry as opposed to actually forgetting you are armed. After 39 of CC and a proper fitting rig I can say you do lose the sensation/weight of a gun on your person but if you forget for a minute you have a loaded weapon you need to leave your gun home and buy some pepper spray!

Wow!!
Haven't been back to the Forum since my post.
I didn't mean to imply that I would never be aware that I was carrying.
I was only referring to the comfort level of the holster/firearm combo.

Sorry if I gave the wrong impression.

Dang....tough crowd!

New guy shows up and is happy with his new holster and gets ragged on for a comment about comfort,,

He probably won't come back for seconds.

Good to hear and carry on. I used a CB for some time, but just found OWB more to my liking. To each his/her own.

We just moved to Ohio from Illinois. Now I'm carrying my M&P 40 around in a King Tuk instead of a fanny pack as we have had to do since 2000. I always felt a little silly with a fanny pack on. And I have forgotten I had it on, but have never carried into a place where it was verboten. That sign on the front always reminded me to do a quick equipment check and head for the lock-box in the car.
