This well written thread by DARE got me going on the first year Combat Magnum.

1st Year .357 Combat Magnum

I can see where conversations like this can cause a collector to start to focus on a certain model that didn't really have my attention. It did with me. I found this first year Combat Magnum within a few months of reading the original thread. Getting the original box - in decent shape at least - was much more of an adventure. My Combat Magnum was shipped on August 21, 1956 (the letter is being corrected). I have found that both the original Combat Magnum and Model 19 no dash for sale are increasingly difficult to locate.

Anyway, I really like this model and will be on the hunt for a couple more at least.

Very nice Combat Magnum,
They are an interesting study,
It was the first K magnum and first four screw K frame which appeared right at the end of the 5 screw era, it did appear just prior to the change over to 10 groove tangs so early examples are found with the old style 6 groove tangs,
I used to track early ones shipped dates and features so guessing yours has the new style 10 groove tangs by my notes.

It is 10. Good to know that information, thanks.

Gun Relics, that is a real sweet pickup!👍 Sounds like you are getting greedy now! Good Luck! What does the new Standard Catalog have for the value of the first year Combat Magnums in the different conditions? It should be fairly accurate since it is newly released.

Nice, and the -1s aren't very plentiful either.

I wonder what the numbers are for the 19 no dash and -1’s, and how their value compares?
