Fished the CajunCanyon tournamentFriday & Saturday-spent two days fishing all the floaters some 65-70 miles out and had 5 bull dolphin and parte of 2 tuna (%&^$# Barracudas

) to show for it-The closest to a marlin was one of the dolphin got wacked while reeling it in and had a big marlin sized bite taken out of it. Thank goodness we didn't waste any money in any of the calcuttas. We've never been skunked that bad for 40 hours of fishing.
Oh well, it's just the start of the season

So what's been going on?

Caj, the alternative is working ... what's that old saw? A bad day fishing/hunting/shooting/golfing* is better than a good day working.

* - I'll debate the golfing being better than working.

Charlie-it's an OPB (other person's boat) the very best kind in the world

PS - it had a 1200 gallon tank. We went through about 3/4's this weekend-it wasn't pretty at the fuel dock

Nothing like a $2500 gas bill.
I notice when I take people fishing they never think about gas for the boat...or the truck.

Lets see now, 900 gal. boat gas, food and drinks, licenses, bait, transportation, lodging, and misc. other expense, what does that come out to per fish sandwich?

My friend had a boat in Destin, 23 footer IIRC, I hope I was a better than average guest because I put the 6-5 gal jugs in the back of my truck and filled 'em up before we went out(usuallly X2). I know how much the boat cost and the cost of keeping it running.

Gas is a small price to pay...well not so small now.. for a couple of days on the water.. I also brought the beer.. Otherwise it might have been Miller Lite.

My hunting buddy and I fish the lake here a couple times a summer. His boat, nothing super fancy, think it's an 18- or 20-foot I/O. He brings the boat and gas, I bring a cooler full of beverages.

Works out well. (But I always try to flip him a tenner towards fuel.)
