I recently purchased a factory bobbed hammer for my Mdl 37. When I went to change it I found that the hole for the hammer stud to be about 0.003-0.004 too small, when compared to the original hammer. Is this a common occurrence?
The hammer and mainspring strut is a ball and socket arrangement, does being this style ( an older style) have any bearing?
The hole in the original hammer measures 0.125 as best as I can see, no I do not want to try a 1/8 inch drill to open up the new one.
If I found a gunsmith with the proper reamer would his opening it up remove too much of the case hardening?
Many moons ago, back in the mid 70's I changed out the hammer and trigger on my Model 66 and they both just dropped right in place.
Any help/advice will be greatly appreciated.
