fitz grips . . . the wood “semi-target” type

Recently I acquired a 'like new' set of target grips for a S&W model 17. Gingerly I changed off the old custom rosewood grips---which never really fit my hand but came with the pistol--and applied the 'Fitz' masterpieces.

PERFECT!!!

Now I gotta go to the range....

I've got a pair of K-frame Fitz semi-target grips with the basketweave checkering like Combat showed... they were on my 1948 K-22 for a while but I put the factory magna grips back on. I think I could get to like them better without the thumbrest and as much heel swell but that's just me.

Fits Grips

About 5 years ago I purchased a water bucket full of Fitz grips.
From sale of contents of a gun shop that had been closed since
early 60s. Had to be 50+ sets in bucket. It was major job to
clean those grips. I don't know what kind of plastic that is but
had to scrub with warm soapy water to get "film" off. I did end
up with 1 pair of Rose Wood Targets for k frame, they were used
thrown in bucket with plastics. My brother cried until I gave them
to him for his K-22.

I was doing some research on fitz wood grips as I bought a rosewood set I really like for my OD

Note they are pretty similar to the first two sets from the OP except the bottom checking area seems to vary on these.

Two of my favorites. The first is one of only two basketweaves I have ever seen. I bought a model 14 I didn't need to get them.

The second is the only wood adjustable palm shelf I have seen. I would never guess Fitz except for the stamp inside the right panel, the same as on his plastic TEN-X adjustables.

Necro-thread brought back to life. I'll play. I have a set of Fitz N-frame SB thumbrest grips that are marked in block letters on the bottom. I have no idea where this fits in the timeline of the various marks used. Here it is...
