For whatever the reason, Five inch revolvers have their proponents. Some call it "balance". Is that the PHYSICAL balance or the VISUAL balance? For me, I guess it is BOTH. Five inch revolvers have been made across the frame sizes and the generations. Here are a few of the later ones. All stainless and pre-lock. Besides,,, it's too cold out today.
Starting at 12 o'clock. 627-0 (Okay, it's a 5.5"), @2, 610 no dash (10mm), @4 a 625-2 (.45 ACP), @8 a 629-3 Classic (.44mag, @10 a 625-5 (.45 Colt) and in the middle a 686-5 (Stocking Dealer Special) in .357.
I've had all these in various barrel lengths but it took awhile to get the five-inchers
