Flash hider recommendations

The purpose is to prevent the addition of a flash hider here in Connecticut. They are illegal on post ban firearms if the firearm has a pistol grip stock and a detachable magazine. Interestingly, muzzle brakes and suppressors are both legal - suppressors must have the appropriate BATFE stamp, of course.

I forgot there are other states with restrictions too haha. CT. is weird. Are you the guys that can have no more than 15 round magazines?

Nope. Maryland has a 20-round limit, but we can have as big as will fit in the firearm. :)

Thanks for all of the information!

I have another noob question. I like the stock iron sights but i was wondering if you can change the sight post (i believe its called) on the front sight. I was wanting to replace it with a green one

Yeah, you can screw it right out and replace it or perhaps paint it green.

I used my wife's acrylic craft paint and painted mine a bright yellow.

My M&P 15-22 does not have a threaded barrel, I purchased a gemtech alpine supressor for it. I want to use a barrel shroud and have the barrel threaded. The look I'm after is a internally supressed barrel. I want the shroud to extend into the handguard. What is the best looking shroud that will give me the look i'm after?

yea jav in ny you have to have a pinned stock and only a 10 round mag, unless you had it before the ban and then your grandfathered in

Here are a couple pics. The short shroud does not need the hand guard end cap to be removed. The long shroud does. The barrel is free floating, so it really does not affect anything.

Not really. The rail is pretty solid. There are arguments on both sides of keeping the end cap and removing it. It all comes down to what you like.

Have you ran any rounds through it yet? Did it come loose after the barrel warmed up and cooled down?

I also have the True Shot Technologies flash hider and have put a bunch of rounds through it without any problems. It pretty much a permanent install as it's mounted with flush set screws and thread locker (provided with the flash hider) that is used on the inside of the flash hider to bond it to the barrel. You'd probably need to heat it with a torch to remove it.

Tacticools products are first rate and if you want the option to change flash hiders it's the way to go. I went with the Tru Shot due to it's lower profile.

If I had it to do over I'd probably have the barrel threaded.
