Does anybody make just a quality flashlight for the shield without a laser? I would like it to be a bit shorter than the laser/light combo and as well, i have night sights on my gun. I'm a minimalist i guess!

It appears the Veridian tactical light could be an option for you. I have no experience with it though.

Viridian is having a sale on factory refurbished. I don't have one on my Shield but do on 3 other guns.

TLR-6 from streamlight or viridian CTL? I don't see a light from streamlight specifically for the shield

I have the Viridian C5L on two M&P's and a Remington 12 ga. Don't have any experience with the CTL but I'm quite pleased with Viridian's quality and performance so far. They're sold out of the refurb CTL but I see brand new ones available on Amazon for $96.

What you are looking for is a gun mounted tactical light or a weapons light. These lights are used for targeting. Flashlights are used for illumination. When you use your tactical light as a flashlight you are pointing your pistol at things that you may not want to shoot. The peripheral light spill can be used for illumination, but is better used for situational awareness around the target.

I have the Viridian RTL on my shield. It has about 100 lumens and is bright enough to light up a room, but not blinding. I also have the night sights off of my M&P9 M2.0 on it. I have TFX Pro's on the M2.0 now.

I know you said w/o laser but i figured i would suggest the TLR6 from streamlight. I was actually looking for a laser attachment and found that the TLR6 was on sale and cheaper then just a laser.

It is also 100 lumens. I find it be suffecient and can be blinding depending on how far the "target" is. I did have to spend about $75 for a tulster tlr6 holster also which made it a pricey attachment. I did not mind since i want to keep my shield and love it so far.

And when cleaning the gun, is it necessary to take off the light and or not get it sprayed up with ballistol or anything like that?

My vote for the TLR-6. I recently installed one on my P938 and am waiting for streamlight to come out with a TLR-6 that will fit a Shield 45. You can easily set it up for light only, which is the setting mine is. For a quick reaction, the beam is confined enough that you'll get a solid hit by just centering the light beam which will allow time to align the sights for follow on shots.

When I put 300 rounds through at the range, is the light going to get dirty enough to need cleaning and can it take a bath in cleaner?

Wouldn't recommend dunking the entire firearm, but you can readily clean the firearm and avoid the attachment. The light itself is easily cleaned with a cloth, etc..

Now that I researched the TLR6, I would lean towards that. OP, just go on ebay. Plenty of companies make custom kydex holsters for Shields with TLR6. They usually run around $30-50. The one I put up is a custom by Ted Cori. He makes a great holster and sells on ebay.

recommendation on holster for tlr6 besides for tulster? iwb kydex

The tulster was actually the only one i could find (on amazon). A shop by me said they could make a mold but for some reason they couldnt give me a quote. But check ebay, i remember seeing some but i wanted the holster by the weekend and amazon had the fastest shipping.

As far as cleaning. I just give it a wipe down and get a q tip on the laser and light lens. I havent had it long (just 150 rounds since getting attachment). I dont see myself taking the light off to clean it too often.

I also recommend the TRL 6. I bought it for the flashlight basically. I bought the universal kit as to have the ability to use on different firearms. Use my shield as evening/fall ccw, and carry in a Winthrop IWB. I own several of their holsters for multiple handguns and love them all. If your into leather holsters I recommend checking them out. I'll paste link to video of TRL 6 shield IWB. Picture is my rig. It is actually very comfortable to wear at 4:00, I don't notice much difference than carrying smaller gun w/o light with same style of holster. I keep 1" masking tape in range bag and wrap around unit before I shoot outside. Seems to keep it clean.

I just ordered an IWB holster for myself, and one from my daughters 9mm Shield, and a few mag pouches, from On Your 6 Designs.
Both of our Shields will have TRL-6's by the time the holsters get here.
I was going to order from Tulster, but the prices were a lot higher there.
Maybe a better product from Tulster, who knows ? I'll give a review of the onyour6design holsters when I get them. They take about 7-10 days to make your items.
Same color options as Tulster, but they don't charge extra for them.
I ordered my holster and mag pouches in "Killer Coyote Carbon Fiber" finish, and a OWB holster for my FS .40 in plain ole Coyote Brown.
