This is the best LED based, AAA pocket light I have found for under $50. Comes with a USB charger, charging cap, and a 10440 rechargeable battery stick. It is 110 lumens with standard AA battery. Advertised output with the 3.7 volt NiMH battery is 370 lumens. Pretty hard to beat for under 30 bucks. The beam profile is very uniform.

Have had mine for over a year......and it is a great, inexpensive, and very bright AAA pocket light. The words "incredible", and "indispensable", come to mind. (I'm not affiliated with the company)

I'm a streamlight fan and although I use the 123 batteries in all of my platforms, I would highly recommend the AA line. I have colleagues that use them and they are just fine. I have punted mine twenty feet into the air and had it come down some forty feet away on a steel deck with only minimal cosmetic damage. I was running and it fell out of my pocket.

If you want to stick with AA powered lights I would recommend Fenix and Nitecore. Both make some really bright lights that use AA Batteries. I've switched over to only using 123 batteries and love the longer life and brightness.

I have a couple of Streamlight that use CR123 batteries. I am so happy with them, I plan on buying another.

Check out the NRA rechargeable road light. Plugs into your 12v power socket. 35 lumins, 50,000 led hours

Under $20 and under 2" in length.

I have been using a Gerber recon for several years, one AA battery. Has rotating bezel for white, red, blue or green light. Metal construction, 3.5" long, lanyard hole, pocket clip. No strobe. I like mine so well I bought a couple extra's, just to have them. They can be found for $30. or less. It is part of my "never leave home without it" kit.

Yes, small can be done brighter. My EDC is a Surefire Titan Plus. 15/75/300 lumens. Works on a single AAA eneloop pro. Fits easily in the watch pocket of my Levis. Paid $79 including an Olight OLI3E AAA keychain flashlight free. It's a little pricey but I consider it a lifetime purchase. Surefire Titan is 15/125 lumens and meets the price range at $50.

If it must be AA, I have a Malkoff MDC HA AA. 0.3/9/115 lumens. If there's a more versatile, durable AA flashlight on planet Earth for EDC I don't know what it would be. At $100 its not in the price range but for an EDC might be worthy of consideration. Made in USA.

I guess I need to ask, when you mention EDC are you guys ACTUALLY carrying your lights on your person daily? For me these would never work for my lifestyle. If my phone is in my pocket, it has a flashlight app. The only thing I actually carry is a Photon small thumb light I call them. It is the size of 2 quarters stacked and weights less than half an ounce. And I only carry that when I go to town. The rest of the time I am working on the property and don't need anything as my spread is not so large that I cant see the garage from any corner of my property.

Yes. I wear Levis most every day and the Surefire Titan Plus tucks in the watch pocket perfectly. Never know its there. I also carry a gun. ;)

I carry a flashlight on my person everyday. If I am remaining on the property I will not carry one all the time. I will gather one up as the sun gets lower though. I do not believe in cell phone app lights. I have had occasion to go into a building during the day that was black. That cell phone app wasn't worth a darn. I was also caught in a store during a power outage and having a light was crucial in keeping folks around me calm. I have found that a flashlight is worth what you pay for it. Cheap ones will let you down. I carry two or more when I am going into places that have no natural light. At work I have two flashlights at all time and tab lights, one red and one white, on either cord of my hooded sweatshirt. I'm all about light.

I've mainly stayed with Streamlight and Surefire. I admit not keeping up with all the other brands now on the market. I've been using these first two brands for over 20 years now. For Streamlight, check out its Protac line which will have something in AA batteries in the desired price range.

I have one of these and another on the way. These are available anywhere else except at Massdrop. It'll take a while to get it due to how many days are left in the drop and then placing the order with the company but it's well worth it. They worked with a company to make these up. Has low, med, and high and is a AAA. Great light! Small enough to drop in your pocket.

Streamlite AA, use it every day and has been perfect. Once you start carrying a flash lite you will be surprised how often you need it.
