I enjoy pulling this up and watching the air traffic around our area or just tracking the flight a family member might be on.

We are on the flight path of local airport 18 miles away and when I see a flight coming over our area I will go outside and watch fly over. Or just a pass over at 30,000 ft and know where it came from and where it's headed!

I've got this also, last month I happened to see a plane take off and unlike all other flights that gain altitude gradually, this guy got about 2000 ft. up and banked SHARPLY right then started climbing. I couldn't see any corp. paint job, all I saw was the silver underside, got on the site and that plane I was watching was not on the radar!!! The evening news lead story was the VP campaigning in NH.

I just loaded that app a month ago after visiting my cousin (former airline pilot) in Colorado.

If you see a plane overhead just point the smartphone or iTouch at the plane and it will identify it for you.

Great app.

I use: Flight Tracker | Flightradar24 | Track Planes In Real-Time

When Fernando Alonzo flew from Barcelona to Indy last year, I was able to
track him by entering starting point and end point. I later varified the tail number and it was that flight.

When they got close, the site slowed down and ended up 30 minutes behind real time.
But I was able to ID the plane due to the pix's of it and being on the inbound flight line.

Especially when it flew directly overhead!

I watched Air Force One on Flight Tracker as it took off from Love Field in Dallas a few weeks ago. While on the ground, the Flight Tracker location identifier placed it at the Denton, TX municipal airport about 40 miles from Love Field. A couple of minutes after it took off, its image vanished from the Flight Tracker screen. Very tricky, a stealth 747!

They do it with mirrors. Really big ones.
