I would like some feedback on using Flitz polish on 3rd Generation stainless slides such as my CS45 and 6906. I have 2 very fine scratches on the slide. It looks like the scratch did not penetrate the surface hence I am thinking no abrasives will be needed such as steel wool. Will this polish take these out without removing the protective coating that supplied during manufacturing?

As always your feedback is greatly appreciated!

Is the finish brushed or beaded? Brushed can be fixed with Mothers Mag polish or Flitz and then rub a scotch brite pad into it to blend the finish, but if it's a beaded finish, it won't work. Then it will need to be re-glass beaded.

Also it's not a good idea to use steel wool on a stainless gun because there is a chance the iron in the wool could cause rusting where you rub it into the stainless.

If you can comb your hair in the finish, it's polished brite.
If it has a soft matt finish with no grain structure, it's glass beaded.
If the finish has a grain structure (like a modern looking revolver) then it's brushed.
A brushed finished can be redone on the kitchen table using polish and scotch brite pads.
