Tyler T-Grips and the Oklahoma Attorney General

Old thread I know. But I just sat down to write a letter to Tyler. Emails and text (several of each) have got not reply. It's been 18 months since they cashed my check. I went online to check mailing address. No trace of them. AI suggest they have closed. I want to send letter anyways………. Does anyone have address off an old order form or something? Thanks
And you are welcome.

Mission accomplished by you all. They apparently shut down.
Just so I don't misinterpret what you're saying. Are you of the mind that people who are upset about be defrauded are responsible for them going out of business ?

If they are indeed out of business. I wouldn't be suprised if someone bought the rights to the product and all the tooling. Chief38 and GypsmJim both have engineering and manufacturing experience. They should hop on a plane to Oklahoma. I'm in as a ground floor investor. " Lets Make T Grips Great Again"
Thanks for the vote of confidence, but I've been retired now for 10 years. My business is still in effect (technically), but it's been a few years since an old customer contacted me for a new project. At any rate, most of my old customers are dead.....LOL.

I bought my last set of Tylers maybe 6 years ago. I waited a while but I got it in the end.

The tooling may indeed be out there. If the "rights" of the trade name were purchased then a simple search will show that. With the length of time they were in bizness I would imagine that any patent rights would have long expired.

In any event, any newbie entering the business may make an exact copy, but it would not be a "Tyler". Several of my Pre- S&Ws sport the real thing.

Wouldn't it be reasonable to assume that the market for these grip adapters is indeed very small? Respondents here have an interest in them, but as gun accessories go, the crowd probably remains tiny by comparison to other after market accessories and gadgets.

Vintage T-Grips are gems and I wish I'd never sold the several I've had. But for shooting and carrying, the BK Adapters are excellent and rock solid with the two sets of tabs. I finally got a couple and was greatly impressed. I actually have a J frame on a round butt K and a K frame on a square butt N.

Good assumption. "Nobody" shoots revolvers any more. And only old codgers boycott black plastic pistols. (well some of us anyway)

I don't know about VERY small. But it probably couldn't be your only product. Seems like a current manufacturer of "something" could pick up the line. Or perhaps a grip maker.

Comparatively, I'll bet it's a very small market.
I would agree with you. On this forum and the like, they are like gold doubloons....In the real world and actual numbers, nobody cares about them... I just bought a couple in a Tampa online auction with some other random junk, but I haven't went to pick them up. am not even sure what they fit. Here is one of them:tylers.webp

I did buy one of the aluminum ones on Ebay for $30 and it looks really good. I put it on a 64 and it looks and fits great for what it is, but the actual reality is, meh...

Frankly, If it had the "Tyler" laser logo engraved in it, the thing would automatically be "worth" double, even though it's not. And someone way up in the thread said if they had a $2000 Pre- Model 27, that they want a real Tyler grip on it.

But in reality, how is a new "Tyler" grip now even in the same category as an 1950's one? It is the same as an Ebay knock off, it just has a Tyler name on it.

Their cosmetic/photogenic value has always exceeded any practical usefulness but there's no harm in that.

Boy you sure know how to make a guy regret being smart enough to find the address on the internet.

If you go back and read my post #4 it clearly says that very prediction.

Then read some of the other comments that is exactly what is called for. In fact when I bring up the Madoff analogy one responder said he would want a company put out of business for commiting fraud.

So yes. I am saying that if in fact they went out of business after receiving an orchestrated barrage of complaints filed I would bet that played into it.

I get the frustrations of people waiting. Did it myself lots of times.
Not defending how they did business as I have clearly laid my position out on that.

Just saying if I offered a service nobody else does, and I struggle because I am not a business person and all I get is complaints, threats and headaches then I might say I am done.

So hope people are happy.

And when they get convicted of fraud let me know and I may change my viewpoint. Bad business running....sure.

Tylers, and their competitors, are one of those "All that's old is new again" things. Interest in revolvers has been a thing, lately, and threads here (and elsewhere) have highlighted retro fittings, Magna grips and Tylers as examples.
When I was a new shooter, back in the mists of time, Tylers were viewed as sort of a fuddy thing, used by some old timers. We wanted coke stocks, or, more likely, Pachyderms. Now Tylers have made a comeback, and likely outstripped the ability of Tyler to make them.
But you can't take peoples' money up front, and then not ship the product. Too bad; I prefer real Tylers to the plastic competition (though the double tabs are a good idea), and off brand alloys haven't fit very well. There's a lot of compound curves to fitting these things.

I have a couple of Tyler's left from years ago when I was turned onto to them and I cherish them.
But I too gave up on them a decade ago, can't recall why exactly, the outdated website, service probably?
And while I like the BKs, yeah the plastic just ain't the Tyler metal, they have much better function then fit or finish.
And as it's been said the double clip is definitely an improvement.
Ive never had a Robertsons but I'm going to pick one up.
