Where do I start. I received a PM from Lee last night, telling me the total donations that has been given to help me with the expense caused by the flood. I managed to not faint, but the tears got the best of me. I honestly don't know what to say. Except thank you. No words could ever express my feelings or my gratitude. I can now rest easy, knowing the plumber will be paid in full, the bank will be paid back for the advance, and I'll get through next month without having to sell any more of my guns. I always knew this place was special. But it's not the forum that's special. It's everyone that make up the forum. Each and everyone of you. Times are tough for all of us. But you still helped out someone in need. I realize many can't help financially, but still said a prayer for me and sent me good wishes. And that is just as appreciated as a monetary donation. Through all the tough times my faith has grown. Not only my faith in God, but in people. I knew I could count on the family here for prayers and words of support. I never expected this though. But when I think about it, it's not all that surprising. I knew shortly after I joined up that this was a special place with special people. But I didn't realize just how special. Until now. Things are getting back to normal for me. I still have some drying out to do, and I'll be having a thorough inspection done soon, but compared to many of my neighbors, I'm blessed. In more ways than one. Thanks to each and everyone of you. And thank you Lee. For everything.

Aw shucks, Ma'am, it twarn't nuthin'.
I am so glad that things are getting back normal for you.

A tip of the ol' Stetson to Lee for starting and getting this done.

Misty, you are welcome.

I feel compelled to comment on our members-
GOOD SHOW, people.
I read all your notes, and I was touched.

No thanks necessary, but you are most welcome. Friends help friends. It's just that simple. I am glad that things are improving for you. Keep the faith, and it will all work out.

I hope we exceeded Lee's expectations. I appreciated the opportunity to help. Glad things are looking better there.

Good Morning, Misty,

Sweet Bride and I are so very glad to hear that things are slowly getting back to normal for you! Faith is a wonderful thing, and friendship and prayers are a blessing, indeed!! This is the way things are SUPPOSED to be, with friends helping friends. It's the "old way", and I'm thinking it's the "best way"! More will trickle in to you, I'm sure, as our check just went out yesterday. In any case, we're very happy and relieved to hear that you are on your way back from your misfortunes. Hearing your good news makes our hearts warm, and we are blessed, indeed, to be amongst so many good folks, you included! Thanks, again, to Lee for getting the word out, and for starting the ball rolling. Well done, Sir! Take care, keep the faith, and God Bless, always!

Every Good Wish,
Doc and Sweet Bride

Money is just money, but it's painful to see a shooter separated from her K22.

As stated above: This is the way things are SUPPOSED to be, with friends helping friends. It's the "old way", and I'm thinking it's the "best way"! I sincerely hope this is the last time you ever go through this type of disaster, here in Florida we get help from many states when our power is out from a hurricane and it really makes me feel good when I see those trucks coming down the road. Yes, those guys get paid, but they are still away from their families and helping others. Take care Misty.

Tally is now $1880.
Sorry, first posted 1980. List is in original thread.

Misty,
For me, True Happiness is seeing others SMILE.:)

I've never seen an angel, so I have to be careful on how I treat others in life.

RATS! I must have been asleep at the switch when Lee posted his first notice on your plight, Misty! I'm correcting that right now - just got a check in the mail. Good girl, you are not alone there. We will help you as much as we can, and then some. Money won't solve everything, but the image I have in my brain of you selling your guns to pay for a disaster like you have had to endure is one that touches me deeply. Keep us posted on progress, and don't you dare think about selling anything more that you treasure. We love ya, gal. Keep right on truckin', OK?

John

PS, Lee - attaboy.

Iggy's dad-gum Pony Express rider must have been asleep at the reins and missed the cornfields of Indiana completely! So, I dispatched my donation via Carrier Pigeon just this morning.

Little feller said that he had a couple of stops to make along the way, but should arrive in Tennessee via Georgia in a couple of days.

Good luck to you, Misty.

Mr. Lee Jarrett; I have always maintained a strong belief in the good in mankind. Your efforts here reinforce that notion. Thank you, sir.

Misty I'm glad things are getting better for you !!!! SOMEONE posted in jest that they wanted your old avitar back. I second that;) And Lee you are the man for getting it all started:D

Misty, glad things are beginning to look up. When I was a kid(long ago) we lived in a little town that flooded often. Tough to recover from water damage but hang in there.

Misty, some of us are still proud to be gentlemen.
We are honored to be able to help a lady out, so you're welcome. Hang in there.

Just happy to help out and do my part along with all the great people on this forum :)

Misty - Glad things are turning out OK for you.

Lee - Thanks for being so perceptive to appreciate the need and do something about it. That's leadership.

Misty'
I'm glad you've come thru this okay. Hopefully, it'll
never happen again. Looking forward to normalised relations with the Forum.
How about some updates on the drying-out operation
and any subsequent repairs?

Today I received the money order from Lee. I've also received a couple other donations from members. As far as updates on repairs/drying out, so far I've just ran fans in the basement. It's still wet/damp, but it's much better than the 5' of water that was down there two weeks ago. I haven't had the inspection done yet. That will hopefully get done next week. Right now we're getting storms here. Thunderstorms, hail, and quite a bit of rain. And it's forecast for the next couple days. They expect some localized flooding, and some creeks to flood, but nothing like 2 weeks ago. I'm hoping the ground can absorb the rain we get and it doesn't go into the basement again.
The cleanup in the neighborhood is progressing. But there's still mountains of trash along the streets. Huge trucks have been hauling it away, many times a day. It's really sad seeing everyone's belongings being hauled away by the truckload. I'll be ok. Thanks to all of you. I'll post another update when I get someone to check the foundation and for other damage. I'm praying there isn't anything else. And that we don't get enough rain the next couple days to cause any more flooding. :(
