FMJ VS COPPER PLATED IN 9MM FOR TARGET SHOOTING

Hello,

I have a FS 9mm pro. A "friend" that reloads is offering copper plated ammo. Is this OK to use in the M&P?

How does this compare to FMJ as far as leading in the barrel? Not too worried about accuracy as I am not that sharp YET lol.

properly loaded plated bullets would be fine - they wont lead - However I wouldn't use a "friend's" reloads as you dont know what is actually loaded. I reload & use plated bullets - why dont you have him teach you to reload & use his equipment

Plated are just that.................a very thin coating on the bullet to help in the leading problem,mainly and should.......
1. shot at target to medium velositys...
2. Very light to medium crimps if used...........
If using a heavy crimp or maximum velositys the FMJ or JSP type bullets are and do work a lot better.

I've put many hundreds of plated bullets through my M&P9FS - they shoot just fine. But I agree with Stevefi - don't shoot reloads from someone else.

I agree. I don't shoot another persons reloads, nor do I reload for anyone else. That includes family other than the immediate.

You should learn to reload. Not only will you be able to ride out temporary shortages once you have adequate supplies, but you may learn to enjoy a totally different hobby.
