I now own both. While I have a lot of love for the M&P40c (it's my first pistol,) the FNS is without a doubt a better engineered machine, and the Smith is damn near perfect mind you. I got the FN for $450 shipped with the FFL and background transfer. At a sale price of $399.99, I could not let the deal slip by.
The FNS definitely borrowed some looks from the M&P, but those engineers perfected all of the internal mechanisms. My M&P has an Apex DCAEK kit with the carry trigger spring installed. I buffed every contact point to a mirror, and while this gun shoots like a dream, the FNS shoots even better for me. Since I felt it needed it, I polished the FNS contact points to remove the gritty uptake and reset (it's still not a $900 factory gun, but if FN USA would polish everything at the factory, they could easily set the MSRP at $750+) otherwise the trigger is flawless in my opinion.
It's very much worth shooting and forming your own opinions, you may very likely end up purchasing one afterwards. If anyone else has experience with the newer polymer and made in USA FNs, what are your opinions?
