Hey all. I hope this hasn't been discussed in length here before (I tried a search first) but I was wondering if anyone has used the Fobus ankle holster for a j frame. I'm picking up my 638 tonight and an ankle holster will be one of my first purchases, along with a pocket holster (I have to pick up a production pocket holster until Mr. Mika can build me one) Just wondering if anyone had any pros or cons for this model.

Thanks. I read through those before I posted my question. I'm a fairly big guy with big legs so a little extra width doesn't bother me. If its anything like my other handguns, I'll end up with eleventeen different holsters for it anyway

I don't have the exact experience you're looking for, but I hope this helps. I've always kept my J frame in my front pocket. I have carried a baby Glock and M&Pc in an ankle holster for years. The Fobus does NOT work well for me in this role. It sticks out too far from my leg and is about as comfortable as a porcupine ride. I've used a Galco Ankle Glove and an Ankle Lite with great success, though.

I have both a Fobus ankle holster for my J-frame back-up gun and a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster. I found the ankle holster rather uncomfortable. It presses against my ankle bone and can be quite painful. I solved the problem by purchasing wrist sweat bands at sporting goods stores and placing them under the holster, around my ankle. They cushion nicely, but I found that the pocket holster works best for me.

Your mileage man vary.
