I was wondering why the group The Angels never made it big in this country. They are better than some rock bands here I think and have been listening to them for a while now, and their songs for us guys and gals who appreciate rock and roll a little heavier in the same genre as AC/DC are really great. I just can't see how they didn't make it here. I picked up one of their CD's last week (of course here in America they are more often found under the name Angel City as there was already a group called The Angels here). Doc Neeson had to be one of the most energetic front men on stage from what I have seen watching their live stuff. For those of you who don't know who they are, there is a lot on Youtube.

There's quite a few more but once you start listening to these guys you'll find they were right up there with the best, just don't know how they never made it here.

I think The Seekers did pretty well here. Of course, they're more into ballads.

Americans generally aren't much for foreign stuff. I know of some Aussie TV shows that I really like, but they wouldn't play well here, given our demographics and somewhat isolatonist attitudes. PBS does run some UK shows that aren't as good as the Aussie programs that I have in mind.

You might check out YouTube episodes of, "Mortified" for a family sitcom. It starred Rachel Blakely, whom you may recall as Marguerite Krux on, "Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World." And Lara Cox (Finn on Lost World) guest starred in a few episodes of "H20: Just Add Water." But it's mainly for teens, I think. I watched a few episodes of, "Blue Heelers", a cop show that's pretty good. One ep was about re-qualifying with their handguns.

For some reason, British rockers have done well here, but not Aussies.

What's the name of Nicole Kidman's husband? Isn't he a country singer? I think his material sells here. Keith Urban?

I remember a band from the mid to late 70's called Angel. I don't remember where thy were from though!

the angels, angel city, the angels of angel city...etc i had a couple albums back in the 80s when i searched for them on i tunes a couple years ago i came up with a female r&b band (shudder)not what i was looking for !
finally found them again as the angels

Little River Band Was a Aussie band I enjoyed and still do. I don't remember Angel but will look into it.

Australia has produced some fairly heavy rock bands of note in the past decade. Jet, Wolfmother, and Airborne are three of the more popular groups.

They'll never be another Bon Scott though.

Kidman's husband is Keith Urban. Not a huge fan of his singing, but he has serious guitar chops.
