For some reason, all I have is crazy people in my life, and my business

I think it's a large part the nature of your work but if they pay well hopefully you can tolerate them. Besides 10-15% of the population is nuts anyway and chances are we all will have to deal with some.
I dealt with some real nuts cases too when I did service work in people's homes. In situations like that I'd tell myself soon I'll be done here and hopefully move on to more normal people but who knew?

I can't believe you haven't given her a foil hat. We all know aluminum foil blocks those rays. Sheesh, what kind of PI doesn't carry an extra hat?

Paranoid delusions may seem amusing, but to people who have them, they are worrying-to-terrifying. It's not a fun way to live.

Just because she's crazy doesn't mean she's wrong. Probably receiving signals from an extraterrestrial life form not detectable by our primitive technology.

Hey, as long as she pays you, right?

She paid me for the camera sweep.
I didn't charge her for the casino trip.;)

I've been a Forum member for about 5 years. You all know me. Tell my, why do I have nothing but crazy people in my life?

Got a new client. A Woman who is sure she is being harassed EVERYWHERE. I swept her house for concealed cameras. Nothing. One of the places she is sure she is being harassed is the casino. Said she will hear "voices". After I swept her house I suggested we go there. I didn't hear a darn thing.

Did win $710 in Blackjack though.

For some reason, the insane seek me out.
Jim

I guess you are just lucky.

You're not the only one. Recently had a middle aged couple contact me to assist them in finding a home (I'm a realtor). Both are unemployed and don't have enough money to buy what they want (around $300,000).

Say what?

Hey, wait a minute, I am known around here as an eccentric old geezer.
Does this mean...? I thought it was a term of endearment....:(

Iggy, in most cases it is a term of endearment, but remember terms of endearment are like beauty, it's all in the eye of the beholder:D

It maybe 10-15% of the population that is mentally ill, but how many have a diagnose. It is the ones with out the diagnose you have to worry about. Tin foil hats only work for about 1% of the truly ill.

There are two categories of mentally ill, the worried well and those with JPN (just plane nuts)

We are all nuts...it just depends on how much you want to "open the window" and share your wackiness with the world. Unfortunately some people have "their windows" WIDE OPEN!

I work for a company that specialized in housing the mentally ill. The number one thing is to make sure the take their meds! As a maintenance supervisor, it was my opinion that they were allowed one good eye ball sweep of their unit a year. We didn't have "pro" equipment, but looking inside vents, attic, and basement for cameras was reasonable (due to the people we housed them with). I'm not sure if it isn't a good idea for anyone living in multi-family housing. Remember, "Just because I'm crazy, doesn't mean they aren't after me." Ivan

Client demographic

Hmmm..............maybe this tells you something about the people who use the yellow pages!:D

Well, you attract "interesting" people...I seem to attract the dull, aggravating and manipulative...

You dont suppose it could be your job? A chimney sweep deals with soot, a plumber deals with nasty stuff etc. Whats a PI deal with?
