For the dumb duck hunters

I'm not really a duck hunter, but spent a lot of time chasing the wily Iowa pheasant, so I can relate. The first part of the story strikes a chord with me. I remember early on in my marriage I was cleaning some guns and the Lovely Cougar I'm married to got a squinched up look on her face and remarked about "that AWFUL smell".
At that point, I wondered if we were going to make it together. That "AWFUL smell" was Hoppes #9, one of the most heavenly scents ever created.
We hung on though, gonna be 22 years in May.
She only objects when I use it as after-shave........Women, who can understand 'em?

Here ya go, P&R. . .Hoppes new promo campaign.

I've only been duck hunting once and hated it. Ron White best described my objection to hunting,"it's really early, really cold and I don't want to go.":D

Funny article. I've been stuck in the mud or under water from tripping over a submerged log more times than I can remember. It was usually when the water temperature was somewhere around freezing. Tried to carry a spare set of clothes, but usually ended up staying in the wet ones. I'm sure it looked funny trying to stand on your head to drain the water from the chest waders, so you didn't have to strip everything off. I was out a couple years back where our layout blinds filled up with water from the heavy torrent of rain, still managed to kill over fifty geese on that outing. My wife still gives me that same look as mentioned in the article and the problem now is my son is as bad as or worse than me and my daughter has now expressed an interest in wanting to go hunting.

Been there dont that got the T shirt. We used to put in at Venice-drive down the Mississippi to the delta, camp on the levee-Move the camp when the tide went up-hunt little ponds-get stuck when the tide went out-eaten alive by the skeeters......
But thankfully at my age, I'm not nearly as mad at them as I once was ;)
Did I ever tell ya about the times we would be 50 miles offshore from Grand Isle trolling for tuna in an 18" whaler....Ahhh to be young and bullet proof once again.:D

Good article and I did that stupid stuff too duck hunting when I was younger. Once when I was stuck up to my waist alone with my Golden I concidered rolling out of my waders and leaving them even.
I wound up using my shotgun as a paddle and wedging myself out.

Did some other stupid stuff 2 miles off shore on Lake Huron in storms and small boats to darn near kill myself.

I'm a dedicated upland hunter now.

I am one of those dumb duck hunters also.....this article made my really laugh as it is a been there, done that....thing.... This year was no different..... :)
