If Rick and Daryl survive, they will need to do something rather quickly, as being under Negan's thumb will require them to do unto others what they themselves just endured. I see it as being very difficult to work for a man who just killed, in cold blood, one of your own. Perhaps the group will split when that tough political decision is made.

Unfortunately it does speak to his state of mind. He's reckless. He puts his group on a pedestal of indestructability , and so gets them into the situations that they are ALWAYS involved in. He underestimated the governor, he underestimated Negan's group, and every time he gets his *** handed to him he goes a bit more south of playing with a full deck.

Rick is at best a knee jerk leader . This far into the game he should be what you say he is, but he's far from it . He generally underestimates just about every enemy he is confronted with, and the way Negan's group herded them in the finale is a perfect example.
