I was wondering what the fine amounts are for those who have traffic signal cameras--for those who get tickets. Reason I ask is-I was just talking about this last night with my neighbor who got one here locally--that was $100.00! They first instaled them here circa sometime in 2006--and were $10 then.

What are the fine amounts where your at? just wondering? Maybe it will make my neighbor a bit happier to know that she isn the only one getting fleeced.

In the thread title--should be CAMERAS--not cames thanks to the tablet im using.

Two towns near me are fighting over who gets the money from the fines from the cameras. In a couple of years the fines amounted to millions.

Ask any of them and they tell you it's all about traffic safety and not the money.

We have cameras here to tell the light with to change but, they aren't red light running cams.

Many of the police, highway patrol and sheriff cars have cameras on them to capture license plates and their direction and location. These law enforcement drive back and forth scanning plate data which, apparently, is stored for eternity.

My concern is having a traffic camera at every controlled intersection enables the government to know your movements, time of day, direction, etc. Those cameras never turn off. If you don't want the government to track your every move, you need to wear a large brimmed hat and walk or ride a bicycle (or ride a horse).

I guess we have it "lucky and """cheap""" here?Ill let her know shes not paying nough... That ought to get her riled up enough. :D

I dont like the idea of those cameras either. Looks like were trying our best to ape--England--as well as to have another ""Tax"" to pay as well. Its a big cash cow here-so I doubt they will ever uninstall them.

Oh and, BYTW, our """""""""""""esteemed"""""""""""" City council now has made it where a person cannot ride a Horse in City limits. >//:-=((

In Morrow, GA at the intersection of Highway 54 and Morrow Road it's $78. That's what I got for watching the crazy guy in front of me driving the beat up truck who would slam on brakes for no reason instead of watching the turn signal go to red.

Re: OP. It's just a way for local govt.'s to make money. Plain and simple. Talk about public safety is just so much diddlysquat. If the local govt. wants to give a ticket to a citizen, that ticket should be written by a policeman, not by some minimum wage clerk working for a commercial company contracted to the local govt.

Be sure you wait 60 seconds to make a right on red if that's legal in your area. It is here. $75.00 if you don't wait the 60 seconds! The picture of your license plates are very good.

I had a former employee get a ticket in one of my work trucks. The fine was 50 bucks. I was more concerned why he was at that particular intersection while I was paying him to be working someplace completely different. Hence his "former employee" status.

$80.00

My wife recently rolled through a permissible right turn on red and was fined $50.00 plus $30.00 administrative costs in Nassau County on Long Island NY.

More and more courts are finding their use illegal. Many of those decisions surround the illegality of having private vendors send out the tickets without an officer actually verifying the accuracy of the pictures.

I frankly don't see how any of those tickets are legal, based on the few red light tickets I've seen with the accompanying picture.

None of them show the driver, at least not well enough for an ID. OK...so my pickup ran a light...prove who was driving. Maybe I had it loaned to a friend that day...I don't remember day by day if I have loaned it out, and can't say if it was loaned out at that particular time on that particular day. I want to see a LEO on the stand that can testify that HE saw ME run the light....Our system does give us the right to face, and challenge, our accuser.

The violation is on the vehicle, it doesn't matter who was driving. The registered owner is responsible for the fine. The owner gave "whoever" permission to drive it. Of course the exception is if you sold the vehicle or it was stolen. Then you have to provide proof of either such situation. (I got a ticket a year after I sold a truck, sent the state a copy of the transfer )
