Yes Sir, you are correct, they are BULLETS. No wish to offend here.
God Bless

It is like a fraternity handshake, or a Semper Fi or a slap on the fanny by a team mate or.......
Brother Lynn,
Wish I lived close to you! My boolit and firewood needs would be solved at the same place! Take care brother!
Wayne
...And Brother Wayne, if you lived here I'd put a saw in your hands 'cause there's times I could use a little help.
I'm with Dave on this and just don't get it . Might sound weird but because of this I won't look at the other forum on cast bullets .Got to ask why folks continue to use the term "boolits"? I know it comes from some other forum but they are still BULLETS.

Calling them "boolits" just looks and sounds stupid .
My 2 cents .
Bullets=Jacketed projectiles
Boolits=Cast Lead projectiles
It's just jargon. Every group of people that hang out together, in person or online, create new words and terms to communicate more effectively. For example- you can post on this forum talking about P&R, Cokes, TT and TH, RR/WO, etc. and most folks understand what you're talking about. Now I see many of these terms show up on other boards and people understand what they mean. Boolits is no different. Just a word coined to differentiate between two types of bullets.
Mental picture coming into focus:
"THEY SAID THAT BOOLIT WORD AGAIN!"
![]()
Or, "MAKES ME SO MAD WHEN THEY USE THAT WORD!
![]()
I am a member of both forums and glad to be. They use the word in a way that is almost blasphemous in its definition. I simply use it to describe lead projectiles differentiating between them and jacketed. It is a "cutsie" thing for me.
But really, it isn't a cuss word or vulgar or .... and there is a lot of knowledge, information, opportunities for procuring equipment and camaraderie around that aspect of our hobby.
One thing I do know too, you staying away from the castboolits doesn't effect them one iota. Was just over there tonight and they didn't even know you weren't there!
p.s. Have you ever done any reading of history before Webster published his American Dictionary? Pick up some stuff on Lewis and Clark. They often spelled things wrong different ways over and over and over again. To put this much emphasis on something so menial is well........You fill in the blanks.
Have you ever abstained from something else because there was a word used you didn't like? Say a TV show or movie at the theater or a coworker that uses God's name in vain? No, probably not. Not many do stand up for things like that. They gobble down curse words brought into their own living rooms night after night after night in front of their kids or wife without batting an eye. Let someone get "cute" with a word describing bullets and "I'm gonna keep my toys at home" thing comes out. If you want to admit to something sounding stupid, there it is friend! In a nutshell!

Ok I'll come back over and check it out .Been about 2 years since I was there .Like I said before Nick, I didn't bring it up to offend anyone. If "boolits" sounds stupid to you probably many other words I use would also.
Being from West Virginia & of coal mining stock I've been laughed at & of by my fellow soldiers when I left the protected confines of the coal camp & company houses were I was raised.
Moving to Montana to drive truck for Sammons Trucking Co. I found myself having to spell words over the phone to my dispatcher because they couldn't understand my tongue. It didn't stop there; I had to explain the meaning of words I used as "they had never heard such". I used a slang speech which others of my kind understood but outsiders didn't.
I guess those on the Cast Boolit Board speak a little different tongue but so do those on this board. Three screw, four screw, five screw, pre lock, post lock, things you don't hear much of from the factory that produced the arms we love yet we know that of which those on this board speak.
So, come on over to the Cast Boolit board & enjoy. No one I know of will be offended if you use the word "Bullet".
