Been looking for a 4" Blue Python from the early 70's for a while now (and watching prices rise as well
) to round out my very modest "collection".
After reading a post from "Dewey" about the Python market, I went to a LGS that I found by accident a few weeks ago. As fate would have it, they had a 1971 blue Python in very good shape. A bit of negotiation and we came to an agreement.

The price was less than what I have seen Python's going for on Gun Broker and other sites and I had the chance to actually handle it and check it out before buying. A few minor dings and scratches and a faint turn ring. Mechanically it is very sound.
Anyway, it is always easier to say "Sorry" than to ask for permission!!
