I couldn't help it, the temptation was too great. But I've been a handgun hunter since the late 70's, my first centerfire handgun was a Super Blackhawk 44 Mag, which I still have. But I developed an affinity for the 45 Colt, and have owned quite a few handguns so chambered. But when I saw this Ruger Blackhawk Hunter in 45 Colt for sale, I sold a pretty dang nice S&W 1950 Target 44 Spl. to gather the necessary funds. But they only made 431 of these in 45 LC, and 5000+ of the 1950 Target. Please forgive me...... 50 yard target, lotsa H110, 335 grain cast bullet, from a rest.

Nice! Good looking gun, and great group.

Nothing wrong with the RBH. I've been shooting them since I was eleven years old.

When I got this .45 Colt, I wasn't even that crazy about it, but a friend made me an offer I couldn't refuse. Since then, it's become one of my very favorites. It likes everything I put into it. These groups were shot offhand at ten yards. I find that equals what I'd shoot from a rest at 25. I recently put a Vortex red dot on my Mk. II, and I'm considering the same for this.

stanmerrell is spot on about liking other makes and models. Same as sport cars. I may own a Corvette, but I really like the Stangs, Challengers, and Camaros, etc.. It looks like you have that baby dialed in sir.

my only Ruger in .45 is a pre billboard Old Army

Well, if you do whatever may be necessary to seat your ball flush with the end of the cylinder, your Old Army ought to produce quarter size groups (from a rest at 25 yards-----I used cornmeal as a spacer, and just ate the X ring right out.)

This was the result of an experiment, and was using light loads (20 grains fff, measured, not weighed)----don't know how it would perform with heavier loads---might open up a bit----might not.

I have a 2021 Blackhawk 45 Colt convertible amongst my S&W's. What is wrong with that? Bob

That's a very tempting Sin my Son, Worry not for your sins have been forgiven.

Don't feel bad, I went slummin' not to long ago. I've learned to live with it. Sometimes you just gotta say, what the ****... :)

Eeeeh! :o I'd have a little trouble with this. Really, disposing of "a pretty dang nice" 1950 .44 Target for a modern Ruger? You must have got a nice pile of cash in the deal. :D

I guess if you're happy that's all that matters. And that's pretty nice shooting with the new .45! Enjoy your new sixgun! :)

Well, I guess I can forget a "Corn husker" for going astray, this time.......

but you hadn't ever do it a gin, Pilgrim !!

By the way, that sucker is a shooter !! Nice group.

"Double or nothin" ??

Yes my son, you are forgiven. Just leave a nice donation in the plate.

Even myself , a hardcore semi auto PC guy , find that bone appealing . Don't even own anything in 45LC , but that one is a thing of beauty .

No worries. The concept of being limited to only one brand of products is pretty ignorant. I own (or have owned) examples from most major firearms manufacturers- the most notable exception being Block, which I will never own.
