How many of you guys used to be huge Glock fans (maybe still are), but have switched primarily to M&Ps?

I love glocks, I do, but I also really really love my shield 9, and am seriously considering semi-retiring my 19. I really want an M&P 40c, really.

With a Glock 20, 23, 26, 30, and 42...I carry my Shield .40 and M&P 40c 90% of the time.

I carried my G26 for about 6 months then I got a shield 9mm. I carry that 100% of the time now. My G26 and 19 are backup guns now. I added a G34 that I'm going to shoot idpa with. My next gun is going to be a VP9 or PPQ.....Not another M&P.

I have 3 M&Ps (love them!!) but a PPQ is next on my list as SSE rides off into the sunset.

Hope to add a CORE before 1/1/2015.

Had to sell the two Glocks I've owned due to money problems, or I'd still have them, especially the G19 (though I liked the G22 very well).

Now in my broke old age I'm down to revolvers, my first love and what I trust now that my hands are buggered.

I'm a GLOCK fanboy and own one S&W auto... a Shield 9mm. The reason I picked up a Shield? GLOCK doesn't make a single stack 9mm and the Shield's trigger is the most GLOCK-like of the single stacks out there.

Between my son, wife, and I, we currently have eight GLOCKs in the house.

The S&W guns I own are predominately revolvers. Unfortunately, dispite the current wisdom that revolvers are bullet proof, that has been proven wrong by me. In the last two years S&W has had to replaced a BG38, a 642, and I'm sending back a 640 Pro Series I received last Friday. The GLOCKs and the Shield have been flawless.

The Shield gets carried some, but it usually is one of the GLOCKs (or a J-frame).

Based solely on the comments I have read on this forum, I would never in my life make that switch, and it is possible that I will never buy an M&P, Shield, or any other polymer framed S&W Glock copy. Again, this is based solely and primarily on the information I have gathered from this forum.

Switch from Glock to 3906/KahrMK9

I have gone in a couple of directions when it comes to 9mm. One is the S&W 3906 single stack stainless. Less blocky. Shoots like a 38 with wadcutters compared to the Glock. Second for the hide out - Kahr MK9 stainless also easy to shoot, easier to conceal. I still have a Glock 19 semi-retired and a 17L range pistol that has surprising accuracy. Here in Alaska though more often with a 44 magnum revolver with 255 Grain Buffalo Bore Hard cast.

I wouldn't rely solely on any internet info for your decision. I've seen a significantly higher rate of breakage and malfunction in the Glocks used by our students. We issue and train personnel on at least a couple thousand M&Ps each year with very minimal issues... We have participating agency recruits come through with Glocks...between 100 - 200 per year and we've seen front sights come off, pins work out and/or break, trigger inconsistency, major malfunctions with lights attached, etc. I'm aware of other major agencies that have had similar problems with issued Glocks.

No pistol is perfect, and even with my experiences I still love my Glock 19. I also love (and trust with my life) my M&Ps.

But according to your first sentence, I can't use your comments either . . .

Why before that date?

CA has a roster of handguns "not unsafe" that governs what dealers can sell from their inventory. Single shot handguns conforming to certain dimensions are exempt. So dealers can modify them for a "single shot exemption" (SSE) that allows the transaction to proceed. Once completed, the owner can reconfigure it back to it's original configuration. The CA legislature passed and governor signed a law prohibiting SSE. It's effective 1/1/2015.

So the rush is on!!

Yea, but what to buy in only 10 rounds? Makes it a bit less exiting. Glad I have my oldies back when 12-15-17 were legal here......

I tried to like the shield but it's just. .....I dunno. ...I don't see anything in them. Too small, too thin to get a proper hold of. ... If I were to buy a single stack it would be the PPS.

True! When I shopped for my 9C, they said I could use FS mags for the increased capacity. So what! I did get one and do use FS mags with Xgrips but that only saved me the expense of buying extra compact mags. No extra cap here.

Catch and Release

Have had an M&P 40 and and M&P 9... They just didn't perform for me as well as my Glock 19. There's a lot to like about the M&P pistols, but I am simply more comfortable with the Glock. It is the only "plastic" semi that I have - everything else is alloy.

Agree, but the 26 is a Brick. And the Shield just shines....
Have had a G-22 for 20 yrs. Plan to keep it forever...... LOL LOL
But Glock has nothing to compete with as far as IWB goes.
S&W just kills it with the Shield.

Hard to beat this............
