Today while driving home from a gun shop I looked on the side of the road and there was a young man laying on the side of the road all crumpled up with packages scattered around him.

I know I wasn't the only one to spot him but I did manage to call 911 and get help. I didn't stay to see what happened but I can't believe people stepped around him, drove right by and no one did a damn thing.

I've had this a couple of times as well, albeit with different situations over the years. On one occassion, I was told (I won't say by who) that I should've minded my own business. In either case, I would do so again depending on circumstances involved.

When the earth was young, a buddy and I found a young man unconscious in a bashed up car on I-1o in the middle of New Orleans. The fifth cop car to come by stopped and gave us a ticket to give the young man when he came to. Ambluance never showed, but we had 5 tow trucks, and ended up taking him to hospital. He was a courier of some kind and his employer accused us of stealing his briefcase that was long gone before we got there. Make the phone report and move on.

One of the "problems" with our great nation is most people "don't want to get involved". If it was me I would have stopped and rendered any aid that I could. Part of it is my nature and the other is that I am a FF/Paramedic. I would stop regardless. I know of several instances where a person WOULD HAVE LIVED if someone would have made a simple call and stopped to help. Take a CPR and First Aid class!

Stop, and render any possible aid. Use your vehicle, if necessary, as a shield for yourself and victim.

Call 911, of course.

Stay with the vic till LEO and EMS arrive.

Go through his pockets and the packages while you are waiting.....

Good for you AzShooter and Last Knight Standing somethings we need to make our business. It's what seperates us from the animals and sub-humans.

Like the time the lawyer woke up in recovery after a horrible accident with nothing left of his arm below the elbow. He started screaming hysterically and the Nurse couldn't console him. What he was screaming you ask???? "Someobody stole my Rolex"

If you don't mind me asking what area was this by? Just curious as I also live in Surprise.

Oh, and good on you for calling 911.

Well, that's pretty easy to believe, because it sounds like you live in the country I was partly brought up in. But what about the rest of us? We can't all move to Mississippi or North Carolina or wherever. Actually, I think that most folks near where I live would do the same, but I certainly can't speak for the whole state.

Oh, and good on you for calling 911.

It was down on Indian School and 19th Ave near Legendary Guns.

I once found one like that, and he came up swinging! Well, here is the rest of the story: I was a lockheed guard. It was a holliday night and the plant was shut down. Where we had about 10,000 people, only I and a fire captain was on that night. I had locked the main gate and went to another sub site to check things out. No sooner left and the fire captain radioed me, saying I better come back as I had no gate! I returned to find the huge gate had been taken out about 70 yards by a vehicle! The vehicle wasnt in immediate sight, and shortly I seen the moonlight shineing on the roof of it in a deep ditch. Checked out the car and nobody in it! I drove the area looking and almost gave up when to one side of the road I spotted what I thought was a cloth bag sitting against a power pole off the road in the dark. I reached down to pick the "sack" up and grabbed some hair! The guy came up like a jack in box swinging! I reacted fast and guess I knocked him out again.
Called the county SO, they come and got him. I think he was a drunk illegal. I had to stand by the wrecked gate untill shift change, couldnt belive it when about 4 hours later a taxi came back with the mexican wanting his car!
