Hello all-found a K-22 for sale locally and they dont come along very often up here. Comes with original box and paperwork. Serial # is 19k03xx. I think that puts it around 1980- am I in the ballpark? Gun has been fired approx 220 rounds and looks like new. Asking price is 600.00. I think I should jump on it, but are there any drawbacks to this revolver as compared to older Smiths? This forum is great and Im afraid I have been bitten by the Smith and Wesson bug. Thanks in advance for any info on this revolver.

The 19K prefix puts the revolver, a Model 17-3 or -4 as shipping in 1977. S&W's from that period still have all forged internal parts and the classic pinned barrel. I have a 17-4 from the same period and it is one of the best finished and most accurate of my S&W .22 LR stable.

The $600 is a very fair price for a Model 17 K-22 Masterpiece in excellent condition, and the box adds to it.

You can fire many, many thousands of rounds out of a K-22 with proper care and it will still look and function fine.

Buy it before someone else does!

I gave $650 for this 17-3 with no box. I just had to have it.

If you don't buy it-I want dibs

By the way, you didn't tell us where you found it. You don't want it, no one really likes those small bore handguns. :)

That's a very fair price based on the discription you gave and I would be all over it.

I paid $650 for this 17-4 with box and grips that matched but no paperwork or tools.

This is the description that I received about the K-22-

I bought this gun new, I just don't remember when. Previous to 1985 I believe.

I also have the original box c/w cleaning tools etc.

Gun also has target trigger & target hammer along with the big grips

It has been used very little.

Maybe had a couple hundred rounds through it. Looks like new.

I'd "BUY IT NOW"! Paid $550.00 for a primo ANIB, that looks like fyimo's (Good looking 17 fyimo!) 17-3 a few years back with the box. Was so beautiful I bought another 80% 17-3 for shooting and hunting. Carries very well in a Bianchi shoulder holster. They both will keep up with my 5.5" model 41 which is a tackdriver and easier to clean:). Great plinking, squirrel or rabbit revolver as head shots are a breeze at 25 yards. I shoot my 17 and 34 snubby more than any of my other S&W's these days. Even if I'm taking another large bore revolver out I'll shoot a few cylinders of .22's first to tune myself up. My accuracy has improved since I started doing this. Cheap fun and they are accurate making for good and enjoyable outings.

You WILL NOT regret buying that baby at that price!
