I came across a model 10 I like at a LGS. It's a 10-8, 3" bbl, nickel finish. The guy is asking $419 for it but it's not 100%. Iknow it's too much, but how much too much.

It is in the ballpark value-wise if you are talking a 98% gun with box and contents. If it is a 90-95% gun but mechanically good, call it $350 or so. These haven't quite gotten to 3" model 65 prices yet.

There are some dings and scratches on it. Can those be minimized on a nickel finish?

Light scratches can probably be polished out by hand. Deeper ones or any damage that goes down to the metal, no. Also, if there are any "frosted" areas on the nickel those are usually not amenable to polishing.

even with the dings and scratches you cant get out, it will still be a good shooter and carry gun.

Seems to be a good alternative to a J-frame...probably easier to shoot.

It does handle alot better than a J frame.I have the 64 3in it is the same as the m10 you looked at.it carries well not real heavy and it shoots and handles better than my m36.one handed I can shoot 1 1/2in groups at 20yds.

I concur. Without seeing it, or knowing if anything else comes with it (box, documents, etc.), I think $375.00 (cash) is a very fair offer. I have a Model 64 with the 3.0" heavy barrel that is one of my favorite carrying guns.

Best of luck,

Dave
