Found a S&W rifle!

If that thing could talk, it would tell you it was freaking cold!

My first thought when I saw that rifle is did the grissley who ate the former owner get indigestion?

BTW, if you see a Weatherby leaning against a tree down on the Seward Peninsula, I know who owns it. He put it down against a tree to releive himself, and when he turned around to pick it up, couldn't find it.

This bear got a case of lead poisoning.

I remember this pic on a wall at a barber's shop maybe 40 years ago, and when I saw it posted in an Anchorage gunshop I had to make a copy.

tough to tell from the pic but is the leather sling still on it (looks like it in the photo)?

The Original Red Field Scopes were made in Denver Colorado. Just north of E. Evans & S. Holly St.
The E.P.A. made them go out of business many years ago.
I have a Red Field 4x my dad bought me back in the early sixties. We went to the factory & purchased it. You could also buy Blems. I have it on a 30-06, Model 70, 30-06 Winchester, made in 1946. Still have it.
I wouldn't get to paranoid about the found rifle. If it doesn't work it's nat a real firearm. If you could find a ser.# that would be cool to find the owner.
Good luck.
