I recently posted a wtb post on the Brian enos forum looking for a few hard to find smiths, one of them being a 610 3" from the Lew Horton. I was contacted by a member saying he sold one to another member a few years ago and that I should send him a pm. So I did that thinking it was going to go nowhere. I get a pm back saying he was actually looking to sell, now I normally don't get that lucky. So we negotiated a little on price and ended up settling on $925 shipped which I knew was well below market value. It did not come with a box but did come with plenty of moon clips. Gun was wearing a set of hogue wood grips and tritium night sights front and rear.

Now on to the grips. Last September I was getting tired of paying big money for factory n frame rd butt combat grips. The quality was not there, especially for the price. So I contacted Kurac, since he has made me a few other outstanding grips, about him making me a set of combat grips from a nice piece of wood and finished right and the price was right along the line of the factory combat grips that I was underwhelmed with. He said he had never done anything like this before but was open minded. He needed a set to make a copy from so I sent him my favorite set of combats from my 627-0. He told me up front that it would take while to the grips done since he had other projects goin on at the time.
So I get am email a couple of weeks ago telling me the grips are ready and to send payment. Ended up getting the grips within a few days of the gun. Now nothing against the hogue wood grips but they are not Kurac grips. Finally a pair of combat grips actually worth $150.

Wow, those look great. Nice gun, too. Here's to hoping Kurac would agree to making more grips like that.

Great looking Smith! The only problem is now I will be contacting Kurac about round butt N frame grips. Geez, it really never ends.

congratualtions on the great looking revolver and a great price.

Very nice combination. A great looking Smith with some well made grips. Now for the big question.... how does it shoot?

A couple of weeks ago I PM'd Kurac to see if he would make a set of combats for me. His response was he was not making combat grips at the present time. So what is up with that? Those grips for Shooting4life are beautiful. I would pay the mans price for those in premium woods, and I have about 9 or ten round butts that I would dress up.I offered to send a set of combats slightly modified to meet my needs, but I guess I struck a discordant note. I don't know. As a back up I'm going to Craig Speigel for his boot grip which is very close to my design. I can mod and refinish as necessary.A very dissapointed,Nick

He told me that it took way more time than he thought compared to his regular grips. Like I said, ordered them in September. I asked about another set of custom grips once I got these and he declined. My guess is he is going to stay with his current line up or targets and magna style.

Great gun! Sadly I let mine go, but the holster and moon clip holder were not in the deal. If you need a good holster, let me know. Mine did NOT like the Federal lead range fodder. AT ALL. :)
