Frame Stop Notch on Hammer

Can someone fill me in on this feature, as in what years and model it was used on? Oops, wrong section

That's a regular "High Speed" hammer (aka Fishook). They were used on K frames from the introduction of the short action until sometime around the mid-1950's.
I have a 5-screw K-22 Masterpiece and several 5-screw .38 M&P's sporting the same style hammer.

I think that the High Speed hammer is the best looking hammer S&W used.
