In 1972 I was 15 and my big sister took me to see "The Godfather" which just came out. "Michael Corleone was very cool. But "Sonny" was great because he didn't take anything from anyone. But"Fredo"? What a loser! Well, watching in later years I found Fredo the most interesting of those three brothers because John Cazale played weakness so well, void of any real life vanity or ego. Same with Dog Dale Afternoon. Here's a 4 part tribute video to this great, subtle actor who died too young.

Perfectly cast and a great job acting. While he did a fine job acting, casting James Cahn to portray an Italian was a ??? for me.

And yes, Cazale's performance rivals Pacino's, IMO.
