Well, sort of.

A Christmas preasant from one of th family members.

I will not mention the brand but I have tried two weeks to try and like it. Not.

Plus it was ground coffee.

Nice try but I will be grinding beans on the next cup.

My Wife and I are serious morning coffee aficionados. WE have 8 cups between us - but that's usually it for the day. WE have tried all different kinds of store brands, national brands, exotic brands, etc. We even belonged to a coffee club where we got different coffees sent to us every month.

All that said, we love our Eight o'Clock Columbian Peaks coffee the best. We use a real percolator - either electric or stove top (depends on the mood I am in) - not a "Mr. Coffee" type.

I know I'm different. I don't like coffee. I hate the smell. I prefer hot chocolate or tea sweetened with honey.

I am STILL furious my ex-wife got rid of my Farberware perc coffee maker back around 2005.
 
Now we have the experts assembled, please tell me which is worse, ground or instant? Seems to be a lot of hate for ground above.
 
Drip maker or stove top percolater and Folger's, Maxwell or Chock o' Nuts we're not picky about our eye opener besides very few like it as strong as I make it.

FUNNY STORY FROM LAST NIGHT:

4 couples including my wife and I went to our weekly Italian Restaurant. The food is always descent, not spectacular, but all in all passable and we absolutely love their Cappuccino and deserts. At the last moment my best friend for 66 years asked if he and his wife could join us - I said sure but was a bit shocked. The reason I did not invite them in the first place is I KNOW they do not enjoy Italian food, but they insisted on joining us. OK......

After complaining about the entire meal (I will say some of his complaints were in fact justified) we ordered desert and cappuccino. Now even with all the other inconsistencies that night, we all knew the cappuccino would be great - and it was! They have the best cappuccino I've ever had and the others who normally go there with us agree! He took one sip and complained that it was the worst cappuccino he'd ever tasted - then I looked him strait in the eye and said, " how would you even know since you have only had 3 -4 cups of cappuccino or coffee in your entire life"! I said to him you more than likely don't even know what real cappuccino is supposed to taste like and when you have had it a few times in the past you put a "pound of sugar" and "half a gallon of milk" in - lol! If you don't like it - I can understand that - but please understand this...... this is what cappuccino is supposed to taste like!

Needless to say I highly doubt they will be eating Italian food with us anytime soon, but my point here was to call him out for being an "expert" on something he's only recently tried. I crack up when people order coffee and then proceed to spill half out to make room for massive amounts of the milk and sugar. Then they give you advise on where to get the best coffee around -HA!

ANOTHER COFFEE STORY:

When I was working (owned my own business) I had a lot of very loyal and friendly customers who when they came in always brought me a cup of coffee, a doughnut, ice cream or what ever. One particular customer I had spent more than most - and he would always bring me a giant sized Starbucks coffee (which I absolutely despise)! I used to make believe I was sipping it and when I could, I'd excuse myself for a moment, bring it into the lunch room, spill it all out and fill the cup with our coffee. I did NOT want to ever insult one of my very best customers! Sometimes one of my Salesgirls would grab it from under the counter and do this for me. I'd say I needed a bit more half and half.
 
Ground is great

We've been drinking ground coffee since we've been married.

I never thought I was being deprived.

That said, I won't drink Maxwell House, Folgers, or any of the other national brands.

I love Tim Horton's, both brewed and Keurig.

Hot and black, cream and sugar is for sissies.

Love it.....
I am usually detailed to get coffee (Starbucks) for my wife and daughter in the mornings.....
Using the drive through the person taking my money (they change every other day it seems) would try to make small talk after they get my money and before the drinks are ready. On occasion he/she will ask - "Which one is yours?" of which I respond "neither, I don't drink this ****".... usually stops the conversation....
 
Like good whiskey, good coffee is wasted on me. It's gonna get cream and sweetner in it. And if i actually drank any good coffee, would be tempted to spend extree for it. And as coffee drinkers know all too well, it be expensive enough already.
 
Back in the day, I worked at the Starbucks of old before it went national while going south. Perks were a free pound of coffee every week and all the coffee drinks we wished while working. I had expressos and lattes and mochas until it ran out my ears. Drank all the various coffees, so great, some not so much. New Guinea pea berry was my favorite. Never cared for the brewed coffee it sold on site. Brewed at home was fine.
