Went to a Friends of the NRA Banquet last nite up in San Antonio. Lady who has taught all the classes for my conceal carry license is the chairperson for 2013. I happened to stop by her range and saw the poster for this event and bought a pair of tickets for the wife and myself. Great steak dinner, a number of friends, my wife spent about $300 for the drawings and I, another $200.

Didn't win squat but a great time.

Well put together and moderated. All for a great cause.

Will I go again? Don't know but we did enjoy it.

Good for you! Do you all know that all the money raised by the Friends of NRA are kept within your home state for the use of youth training and range development?

I've been a treasurer for our local dinner for 8 years and have seen them go from from $12,000 net to $30,000 net in that time. We are now planning our Oct dinner (and having our 2nd handgun raffle of the year). Our committee has grown from about 6 of us to double that. We came near out 300 attendee goal last year, and are pushing for close to 400 this year.

It's a great cause, and you will have a great time and contribute to the future of the shooting sports.

I went to the Friends of the NRA banquets for years here and always felt good about spending money with them because all the money stayed pretty local to promote kids programs. I haven't went in the last several years because they have taken me off of their mailing list for some reason and the tickets are sold out by the time I find out about it. I always enjoyed them and picked up a few guns on the open auction. They had a change in the people who are in charge several years ago and things are done a little different as far as mail outs go. Need to find out why.

I'm on the local FNRA committee, too, and it's a great organization. Lots of hard work on the events, but all worth it when you see the junior shooters coming along and the local ranges made better and safer.

Whenever I go, I always enjoy it. Lots of nice eye candy selling tickets, cool guns too. I'd recommend to someone going for the first time, to set a budget. Alcohol and pretty girls can make you spend more than you want to.
