I just got back from a 4 day training class and had promised SWF member TDR that I'd critique the course.

The facility is called Front Sight. They sometimes have an advertising banner on this site. They are located in Parump Nevada (50 miles from Vegas). They offer all sorts of training, from unarmed hand to hand combat all the way to military or SWAT style stuff with everything in between. (Gun training | Firearms Training)

I went to a 4 day defensive handgun training and found it to be more than I had expected. The facility was massive, the instructors were professional, and the training was fast and complete. I had been warned that there would be some high pressure sales tactics that I would have to endure, however no one at any time tried to sell me ANYTHING. No mention of religion, up-sells, memberships, or anything else that didn't pertain to firearms instruction.

The class was fast paced and sometimes difficult. My challenges were having to "unlearn" my bad habits, and also the trigger on my Sigma (but that's another story). The goal is to train the student to place two rounds from a concealed holster into an aggressors chest in under 2 seconds. They also include thought provoking seminars with regard to what to expect legally if you do have to shoot someone.

At first impression the cost for the instructions appear to be quite expensive, however, with a little searching on the internet, one can find introductory certificates for the same classes for about $100. I purchased a lifetime membership that will allow me to attend as many 2 or 4 day handgun classes or as many 2 day rifle or shotgun classes as I like. That cost me $300. For the next few days they are running a special for the handgun class.

I had been told by one person prior to my going that this class was a joke, however this person had a level of (military) training that exceeded even some of the advanced classes they offer. A regular guy like me can gain lots of knowledge at this place. I'd recommend this class to anyone.

Thanks for the feedback. Always glad to hear that someone gets training and comes back with a good feeling that they learned some things. Front Sight seems to be controversial on many forums but none of that matters if you feel like it was worth the effort, time and money.

Congrats!!
