Front Sight With Red Post Insert?

I recently picked up a nice K38 made in 1968.It has a Patridge front sight with a pinned red post insert.I have never seen this and was wondering if these were a factory sight or aftermarket?There was little info on the web other than it looks like Midway used to sell them but they are now discontinued.

It could be either factory or after market.

I had a patridge sight with a red insert factory installed on my K22 back in the eighties so there is a good chance it is factory.
