Just bought a Body Guard 38 for my wife. She (and I) find it a bit hard to sight when shooting at paper. I realize this is a close in defense weapon and sighting will probably not be used in a defensive situation. But at the range it would be nice to be able to have a front sight that is easier to see. Can the front sight (black ramp style) be replaced with a fiber optic front sight? Any and all constructive comments, suggestions, criticisms, insights and advice welcome.

Thanks,

Get some of her red finger nail polish and some rubbing alcohol. Use the alcohol with a Q-tip and clean the front sight completely, allow to air dry, now apply the nail polish to the ramp side of the front sight and allow to dry. You will see an improvement the next time she goes to shoot at the range. PS, you can dry fire the S&W revolvers which will help break in the trigger and give her some sighting practice...Just MAKE sure the cylinder is empty, please. jb

Guzzi - Thanks for the response. I think we will take your advice on the nail polish suggestion. A friend of mine father used to do the this with all his revolvers. I had forgot about that trick.

Glad to hear the revolver can be dry fired. I will get to work on that right away.

Also thanks for the reminder to make sure the gun is empty before dry firing. While I check any firearm I pickup for ammo, it is always good to be reminded to do so. Complacency can kill.
